Saw the Dasland ferry crossing the aquaduct (very tight fit) over the river and far below the road. It was the highlight of a 2 week road trip around Scandanvia in August 1978 with my parents from Australia. In those days there was a car ferry from Newcastle in the UK to Bergin via Stavangar. I worked for a year in the UK in 1978 when I was 25. I hope to return with my partner to Sweden and Norway once COVID permits....

Check out the great Trent/Severn waterway in Ontario, Canada. From near Picton, Ontario, you can travel several hundred miles through lakes, rivers and many locks all the way to Georgian Bay and beyond. Great trip with plenty of places to stop for fuel, supplies, overnight accommodation, campgrounds, etc. Take a look at the Peterborough Lift Locks and Big Chute.

spent many summers in dalsland. grew up nearby and my uncle had a summer house by the water in lake vänern. he would let me and my brother steer his boat through the narrow canals as he dozed off :P one time we went camping on a small island in the lake, good times! :P thanks for sharing :)
