"more demonstration than music" ... ouch. i do feel it is a "bit messy" just a bit, though. it's messy enough that it resists sounding too academic, allowing a more raw musicality to shine through. i'm curious to hear your take on what constitutes a exemplary work in this style. can you recommend an alternative, but similar, album that is more to your liking?
