The guy who came in hard after Breeder LW is Jerry Doobiez aka Abbas Kubaff. He is one of the pioneers and veterans in the Kenyan hip hop scene, and one of the rappers who inspired the likes of Khaligraph Jones. I think Khaligraph still has a portrait of Abbas Kubaff, alongside those of Chris Kantai and Bamboo in his studio. Abbas Kubaff started out with Bamboo as a duo called “K-South” named after Kariobangi South in Nairobi where Abbas comes from. Bamboo was raised in Inglewood, California but later moved to Kenya where he met Abbas (then still using the name Jerry Doobiez). By the way, Bamboo is the elder brother to Victoria Kimani (Kenyan singer who lives and produces music in Nigeria and was once signed to Chocolate City) and Kimya (another rapper). Abbas Kubaff moved to Malta in Europe after he got married to Anna English in 2016. You should react to some of Abbas Kubaff’s music. I would recommend “Chapaa” (the original version, although the remix is also good and has a few more Kenyan artistes) and “2050” by Maleek in which Abbas Kubaff and Chiwawa are featured.
