Walking away and going into sin are 2 different things. She could have filed for divorce legally, if she couldn't endure the abuse. Yes, God hates divorce but He loathes sin. No one might go to hell for divorcing someone but no fornicator or adulterer can make heaven, if they die in that state. Better to legally divorce than live in adultery.
