It's not just recognizing talent in the Collingwood VFL, it having such a great system that almost anyone can come in and have complete faith in the system. They know exactly what their role is and what is expected of them.

Hawthorn have the best form in the league playing a top 4 fixture after finishing bottom 3, fixture was never discussed in the media when Hawks were 0-5 because it never fit the agenda.

As someone who used to be in the medical industry. I was pretty surprised when he came back on. I can say yes we don't have X-ray vision, however we have strict procedures and processes to identify and manage these things. We look at the mechanism of injury, ribs sustain injuries in two ways, by overall force (G Force) and direct trauma. In his case the knee of Moore hit with the point, meaning the chance of fracture and internal injury raises significantly. By testing each rib individually we can pretty quickly determine the number of injured ribs, when you determine two or more ribs are fractured in succession the chance of internal injury is very high. Potentially the lung puncture was so small his breath sounds were equal however with retesting this should have been picked up. I would be absolutely astonished if the Melbourne Dr didn't express major concern in him going back on. However the Dr does have the power to overrule coaching and players and I think an investigation into why the Dr didn't use those powers in this case needs to be addressed. To somewhat answer your question if he had been exposed to further trauma in that game it genuinely could have been very very nasty. His lung could have easily been severely damaged to the point he developed a tension pneumothorax, which basically happens when air gets trapped in the plural space, outside the lung where it's supposed to be. This is a life threatening medical emergency, it's extremely traumatic and painful, leaving the patient in severe pain and gasping to breathe it can easily become fatal if not treated within thirty minutes, by inserting a tube or large bore needle in between the ribs, into the intercostal space allowing the air to escape. The worst case for him would have been to be re injured leading to a large air build up and yes with the dr on standby he could have performed the procedure however trust me the pain, suffering and procedure is horrible, a really nasty thing to experience. The spleen could have become lacerated resulting in severe internal bleeding leading to a potentially fatal outcome. His lung will heal quickly, his ribs will need four to six weeks minimum and his spleen will also heal well however this is a significant injury and he will need a fairly large time off, could be as long as multiple months depending on how he goes when returning to contact and he will have some physiological trauma by worrying about his spleen, lung when he returns that's only natural. He is an absolutely wonderful player and in my opinion should have been taken to hospital immediately for CT as only then can we truly know the true nature of injury. It's better to get to the hospital and find out it's only one small fracture than to have a player suffer and potentially need life saving treatment to try and win a footy game. With all the best intentions over head contact it's time the AFL makes a stand by saying players health comes first. Potentially the way the UFC has an independent medical professional to assess alongside the club doctor, someone who doesn't care about the results and only cares about the players best interests and overall health. Would love to hear you discuss this!

Independant medical assesment is a perfect idea , conflict of interest using Club employed docs

Hawthorns biggest strength is their list build. "Useless picks" as David King describes them will and has built the majority of Hawthorns past and future premierships, D'Ambrosio, Meek, Chol, Gunston, Ginnivan all examples from just the previous season to suit your short term memory brown envelope V head.

You wouldn't know it from ANY Victorian media, but there was a top of the table clash this weekend (1st vs 3rd). I mean i know two teams on the periphery of the 8 is worth 40% of the discussion but maybe there's room for other games??

Moore's knee into Petracca was not an "accident". It was a calculated hit to mame Dees best player. It was a dog act.

Grow up🙄 It is a contact sport and Darcy Moore is not a dog. "mame'? LOL - you can't even spell, clown. The most ridiculous and dangerous act was Melbourne putting him back on the ground. He was obviously in distress and had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance. Notice there was no "dog act' by Collingwood's players "testing out" his injury on return to the ground as is often the case. If further contact had been made it could have made his injures much worse.

Probably from the same place as the Melbourne FC medico who decided it was okay to put their player back on the ground with a punctured lung.
