Album was so crucial to my musical awakening. I was 12 or so. Getting into Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys, but I didn't know you could make music like Gorillaz. It was staggering.

seriously i must of been 12 or so too i'll b 31 in May, but shit. I did not really realize but you are probably right this album opened me up to so many new possibilities and music. There was just nothing like this beautiful blend of vibrations and rythyms. and of course his singing. RHCP was always just around but did not realize how much they were in my blood until later in my adult life seeing RHCP on woodstock 1999 here that I fell absolutely in love with them, and became such a hardcore fan seeing them 4 times. listening to all of johns solo music, now I make my own music. But nothing will be like those days sitting around playing video games and listening to self titled gorrilaz. those were the days.
