People who say Damon was evil and all.They don't understand what all Damon went through. He literally went through an eternity of misery. Everyone always favored or liked Stefan, but Damon shielded his goodness and didn't let his excellent perspective of the world change, due to which Stefan was always a hero. Damon took all the punishments in his childhood to protect Stefan. It just says a lot. Damon deserved Elena much more than Stefan.

I think the Salvatore brothers are both great and worthy of Elena, but Damon is more suitable for Elena. He is strong, attractive, gentle enough, cruel enough to best protect Elena. Remember the scene where Bonnie faked her death when killing Klaus in Season 2, while Stefan was passive, Damon was willing to actively let Elena hate him but in return kept her life safe. Stefan is very nice and gentle, but I find Damon more mature. Damon spoils Elena properly and is cruel when needed, he is better able to protect Elena and she will have complete peace of mind to rely on Damon. Elena fell in love with Damon a second time despite losing her memories, proving that he was her true love, she also said she had never loved anyone as much as Damon. Team Delena is always the best
