Just me or does everybody feel oddly educated after watching the red wine talks..?
@xalbatross14 жыл бұрын
Ayati Dobhal yes! I always think of what was mentioned in another red wine talk I think Damon mentioned some study that theorized that language can help shape or form thoughts a certain way. I know it’s a bit of a reach but it helped me understand a bit more about my parents and my dynamic with them as the daughter of immigrants. I never learned my parents native language- I only know English which in turn probably influenced my uhh western (?) way of thinking. So yes I do learn about different things and it’s cool!

CATHOLIC THOT Boys/men can also be mean and catty to each other but media and pop culture never represent them like this yet women/girls are always painted as fake/catty/dramatic/bitch. Let’s not forget that this media/pop culture builds common sense. Also girls are discreetly taught, from a very young age, to compete with each other in a really gross way. There’s even this thing that having males friends is “cooler” than have females friends, cause guys are somewhat “cooler” or “better” than girls. Some economic nerd talk for ya: what Raida said about either having time or money, but never both, is one of the central decisions households (or consumers, aka "people") have to make in macro-economic theory. It's typically called free time and consumption, and describes the time spent at work vs not at work, or rathet the value each individual gives to that. So basically, congrats Raida, you instinctively described one of the pillars of economic theory!

@alb0zfinest4 жыл бұрын
Lmaoo this is such a simple thing, I’m surprised it’s counted as “theory,” which is generally supposed to be far more elaborate. P.S: depends on the level of wealth we’re talking here, many wealthy individuals hire people and underpay them to do the brunt work. In that sense, little time is required for you to actually work and you still make alot of money for all the free time. It’s just theoretical nonsense posing as something deep for rich people to feel like they have it hard too. The wealthy are very privileged, and though no one is arguing they don’t work at all, they do in fact work very little.

okay i just want to ad something to the thing about traveling solo, because i think what you said what was really interesting and probably true in a lot of cases, but this is only seen from a male perspective. for women, traveling alone is a whole other story. if you are female, the question is if you will be safe or not and that comes before anything else, and if you wish to travel alone, you will (of course depending on where you travel) most definitely find yourself in some sort of unsafe situation at one point. so i just want to say yes, maybe some people are afraid of being with themselves but for women that is a secondary worry

dude i keep having conversations about self validation in terms of constantly searching for it and affection etc from external forces where the only person you can truly rely on is yourself and if you cant do that then you need to strengthen that relationship over anything else?? like despite the jokes but even when he said about using other people or things or coping mechanisms to fill holes which are things that are fleeting and uncertain so you need to find that certainty withing yourself so you can fully give over something thats whole and not fake? like you may feel like being with people makes you feel happier but if you notice the emptiness afterwards maybe thats suggesting something? but yeah idk i feel like we are in a time especially with being hyper aware of what everyone else is doing etc that we are on a constant thirst for validation forgetting that its right in front of us if we could just give it to ourselves and not be so disappointed or limited by others and our perceptions of who we are and what we think we need to do or be when the only task for any day that you should know you can achieve is just being the purest version of yourself and you cant do that if youre full of empty spaces or having those spaces temporarily filled with a shadow.
