Wouldn't it make more sense to put the rubber cut at the top? My van is just coming up to 25% under one window in the winter, so this year the seals are getting replaced and any remedial work is getting done. This is my last van and I am using it until the wheels fall off. I have heard of so many bad experiences on new vans that cost a fortune, it is a industry rank with bad workmanship and 'cop-out' warranties..

Even though many modern caravan designs have removed wood from their structural frames, getting damp within the van is still going to cause a horrible smell.

Not sure you have really repaired that leaking window seal. You have more like sealed the existing damp within the frame. Surely it should have dried out first before fitting the new seal?

it'll dry irrespective of the seal fitted or not.

Wouldn't it of been cheaper to just scrap or sell the caravan than pay thousands for all this restoration work? You can get a lovely van for just a couple of grand or so.

you'll get damp with a 2 grand van even a 10 grand van

This is why i never use an awning, it puts too much strain on the awnig rail seal.

We had a lovely dry caravan that got written off in storage! It took is almost a year to find a replacement that didn't have soft walls in at least one place!

Comedy of errors: 1: Not allowed to dry out 2: Didn't replace rotten timbers 3: Cut the rubber at the bottom? 4: Staples through rubber 5: So you repaired the window exactly the same way as it was manufactured with obvious design flaws that cased the leak in the first place! Brilliant :-/

Do they make new caravans using aluminium rather than timber? I'm certainly no expert at caravan manufacture, but would expect caravan manufacture to do away with timber framing.
