If you are looking for a waterfront camping experience along a beautiful, quiet lake then the Damsite Corp of Engineers Campground near Hermitage, Missouri is a perfect choice. The campground, located about 50 miles north of Springfield, features 80 sites with electric hookups and 22 non-electric sites. Pomme de Terre is French for "apple of the earth."
The park gets its name from the poximity to the Pomme de Terre dam, which was completed in 1961. The lake has 7,790-acres of surface area and 113 miles of shoreline. It is a very popular fishing lake and is stocked with muskie. Crappie, largemouth and white bass are also found in abundance. The lake is also perfect for watersports such as boating, skiing, and swimming.

Great video guys as always. This is one of those campgrounds everyone in Missouri raves about. I honestly don't under stand what the attraction is after seeing how close the campsites are in from the drone view. They are packed in like sardines.

Thanks so much. Definitely tightly packed, but at least there is great access to the area. The upper area seems to have a little more space than the lower loop section. Safe travels and happy camping!

Hey there! We were there that week! We spend about a week or two every month during the season while it is open! The reason no park attendant was there, is the old one had a medical emergency and had to leave early! Usually they are on site most of the time. We were actually asked to cover for them but it did not work out with what we had already planned for the last two months. The Park Rangers and local S.D. do all patrol here and there! They also arrive fast if they are called. Once when there, a man had a medical emergency and we are both in emergency services and ran a couple campers down to help, they arrived less than 3 mins from receiving the call! They are a friendly group once you get to know them! Oh and you really don't hear the generators once inside your rv! And after about 9 pm, not at all. And since the upgrades to the new sewer area, there have been no smells. We were laughing when we saw you guys and Jasper on the slide that day! Watching this made us laugh again! lol They took the washer and dryers out about a week before this was filmed, they said it was because no one ever used them? (We only know when it was filmed by friends who were there that wekend and we see footage of their campsites and ours) Many of the campers there are from are local emergency service departments, so more than likely there is always more help right on hand! Oh and once throughout the last few years, we have been there when a tornado warning was in the area, the local SD came out to warn everyone to take shelter in the bathrooms, those they did not see, they went and knocked on their campers...people showed up with coolers, bottles of wine and all sorts of animals! We ended up making the mens bathroom a cat area and the womens bathroom the dog area..one guy walked back and forth with a baby racoon in his pocket and everyone made it into a tornado party! lol But anyways everyone is always friendly there! We have never met rude campers at all. We are always going there, so if you ever go back, message me and we can meet up! BTW, hubby found y'all by searching the dam site... he has camping fever and is counting the days until April 1st when it reopens to both water and electric sites! And yes, we are already booked for it! lol Loved your informative video and we are now going to be binging on the others! ;)
