Ive never seen a man in a more comfortable state of existence as Coach Hurley. Why would he ruin that peace for the drama of the nba on top of that the lakers who are top tier drama.

It shouldn't have been that hard of a decision. Lakers HC is a powerless position. He avoided disaster.

@@Commenting800 Based on what? Look at the record since Phil Jackson. Parade of coaches staying 1-3 years who all got scapegoated. Not even a title could save Vogel. Hurley just would've been the next one. Redick will be gone sooner than later. Book it.

he got a new contract out of uconn using the lakers as leverage. yes, the lakers offered $20m more for the same amount of years but he has lifetime job security at uconn where he will keep renewing and extending his contract at 50m+, eventually he'll sign a $100m deal. I'm a Lakers fan but it didn't make any sense to me why an east coast guy building a college dynasty, and whose father was a lifelong high school coach, would go to an aging Lakers team with LeBron's retirement imminent. Steve Kerr has been a championship winning coach but has also had the worst record in the league. NBA coaches, no matter how brilliant they are, are nothing without superstars. In college, Hurley is rotating the best players in the country year in year out.

Fuck the nba being a college coach at top program would be so fun , recruiting top kids in high school and transfer portal and build dream team to take to march madness… best job ever
@iggypopisgod94 күн бұрын
nah, Uconn was going to pay him considerably , there was no leverage required. He investigated to see if the grass was greener. At LA he would be the under the thumb of an Owner, GM, etc.

Hurley reminds me of Larry Brown, he just loves teaching. Could be kids at a park. LB with the Pistons worked because of the situation and the players bought in, I don’t think today’s NBA could have that.

@@Aaron-fb1pq Bro it is a sacrifice.... Yes they're making big money but they still would have to pack up and move across the country leaving behind friends and family. How can you not see why a wife would be in on that decision? You must be super young or single and have been single for a long time. Cause if you weren't and have been in a real relationship I'm not sure this would even be a convo lol

He has a point that an nba coach usually doesn’t run the show, especially older teams. Thibs and pop are the only coaches that come to mind that their teams run through their system. A college coach probably works better for a young nba team.

That Lakers job is all glitz right now. As long as Lebron is still there he is not going to be able to coach the team 100% how he wants. He was smart to not accept that job. If he really wants to coach in nba, which it doesn't seem like he does, there will be other opportunities down the line.

Dan Hurley is an A list proven coach. Unfortunately this disqualifies him from being part of the LeGm legacy. Spoelz you say? Nope. Dude was a film guru not a coach when Pat Riley tapped him to lead the Heat. 'Bron was not exactly thrilled at the time either. T Lue you say? Nope. He was a question mark from day 1 and soon as he had a chance 'Bron left him in the dust just like Spoelz During his career LBJ has never once opted into a situation where a strong proven coach was on board. And they reciprocated by opting OUT of his 'process' so the legacy stain remains... 'Bron in the conversation but not THE GOAT
@jjballers814 күн бұрын
What are you yapping about fool. 6/10 coaches LeBron has had, have had their most successful seasons with him. Spo, Lue, Blatt, Ham, Brown & Vogel all reached the peak of their success with him. None of those guys have had more success as a HC without him. Spo, Lue & Vogel haven’t won a championship again. You want to coach LeBron, it’ll make your career.
