Feels like a clash of egos. I suspect Omar wasn’t happy with the direction Ashworth wanted to take it and vice versa. Going for Amorim is a massive shift in style and how you build a team. Maybe that didn’t align with how Ashworth wanted to build the roster long term. When paul mitchell got the Newcastle job he was very public with his criticisms of the work that ashworth had done. Omar who has seen it done at the highest level has probably said. Lets cut our losses now and get someone in that can actually get us to the top. Christopher Vivell is my bet for DoF. Seems they kept him around for a reason. All i will say is. Chelsea had all these type of moves a year ago. Loads of football people hired then moved on after a few months. Then settled on a structure. Everyone called it a mess. Now look 🤷🏾♂️. Sometimes it is better to cause a mess to get to the right path than plod along and end up at the same spot.

INEOS’ massive errors are piling up. Here’s 4 for starters: 1. keeping Ten Hag, giving him an extended contract only to sack him after 9 games and pay him and each of his entire coaching staff an extra year’s compensation. 2. Giving the new manager no pre-season, or a summer transfer window to get the players he needs. Had Amorim been appointed in June, United would likely be much better off than they are now. 3. A really tough task to get a guy to come in and try to bring “on the hoof” a completely new way of playing. Might have been better to give RVN a 2-year contract and review his body of work at the end of the season. If very good, extend his contract. If not good enough remove him and bring in someone else. Maybe Amorim, who’d prefer to stay at Sporting until end of this season anyhow. 4. Now, the Ashworth debacle and the millions thrown away on getting him and paying him off, and not least presumably his 5 months spent under-performing. Hmm… Increasingly seems like the wrong people bought United.

Not sure what the reasons are but they are clearly sufficient to warrant immediate dismissal. Maybe Amorim has voiced his dissatisfaction with recruitment? Personally, I think it is harsh because it puts focus on the players who have come in. Zirkzee, Ugarte, Deligt, Mazroiua and Yoro all have enough quality to improve United - the issues Amorim has really is what they have walked into. There has to be a negative culture among the players. They have to lack hunger, belief and/or integrity. They get rid of manager after manager, yet still somehow find their way onto the first team. Us fans are no better, remaining satisfied that players like Rashford, Fernandes, Dalot, Maguire, Malacia, Shaw,Evans and Eriksen are better than they are. None would get into any other top 6 side, yet we still champion them. Amorim needs to show courage. I’m optimistic at this point that he has the cajones to succeed. However, if he isn’t braver than his predecessors, he’ll be out the door. My prescription would be sack Fernandes as skipper, sell Dalot, Rashford, Eriksen and Casemiro and draft in the better youngsters and play them, week in, week out. We won’t succeed this year but Amorim will be backed from the stands.

The logic management decision I was waiting for because of the following reasons: 1. Prolonging the contract of EtH at the background of his outspoken negative performance. 2. Recruiting RvN as assisting coach and not let him stand in when EtH was sacked. 3. Letting RvN go as steady and long term guardian of the club's identity. 4. Discontinuity in the sportive heart of the club with incoming and outgoing coaches bringing and taking their entire staff and thus leaving the sportive heart of the club open with every change of coach. 5. Letting the coach determine the club's playing style instead of imposing it as a strategic requirement. 6. Not making strategic decisions before the season, but in the course of the season for matters that could have been foreseen in any accurate risk analysis. From the outside it looks that Ratcliff intervened himself and recruited Amorim personally and thus made his management team redundant. In this scenario the CEO should be dismissed as well. I guess the CEO is allowed to stay to safeguard continuity. A management advice. An effective company structure requires a coaching staff that is bound to the club and not the coach, to prevent a rollercoaster situation every time a coach is dismissed and takes his entire staff and thus leaves the sportive heart of the club open with every alteration. Sam, if you want to add real value, try to find out about Amorim's assignment (I guess winning PL and CL in 2028) and its derived sub-goals for every season. In this way you can assess the coach's performance in an adequate way. With this annual goal you prevent yourself from being emotionally involved with every game. By the way imo, almost the entire squad will be replaced before 2028, with two or three exceptions. You do a great job and have a nice way of presentation.

@@willtallis5275 Do you falsify my conclusion that the man was unqualified? Besides, why would you let the new incoming coach (who's basically a short term actor) determine RvN's destiny and thus the company's structure and long term planning! Football is what you see. But at the background it's about operating a big company. The result is determinded by the process of objective, strategy and plan of action. There's no room for emotional interventions in the company's strategy, at least not if you want to be succesfull. Thus, the way Ashworth treated the role of RvN (the job, not that man) indicates itself that he's unqualified to act in a professional organization. @GarlicbreadmanOP3 күн бұрын
This is quite concerning now. Ineos have shown themselves to be something different to what we expected 5months ago. The recent decisions with the ticket price rises, and now this, all point at the fact that ineos seemingly is no better than the glazers.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Given how they had a man ready to go after EtH left, I'd imagine they've had Dan's replacement in mind too.

In the latest accounts to the 30th June 2024 the club announced a net loss of £113.2m. Total losses over the past 5 years are more than £370m.. Is it just me, or does anyone else think it's just a little bit rich for Sir Jim the saviour to pay £3m to Newcastle for Ashworth, agree to extending Ten Hag's contract by a year in the summer, then sack him and his coaching staff at a cost of £10.4m in October, which also involved paying £11m to replace them with Amorim and his staff, in November, and then sack Ashworth in December, to then claim United are mediocre and that hard and unpopular decisions need to be made to return United to the top of the game in England and in europe. Which in his opinion means he expects us the fans to pay an extortionate increase in the price of tickets to compensate for the clear incompetence of him and his ineos team who clearly haven't a clue what they're doing.

@rhodreque81553 күн бұрын
Talking about something when you dont have all the details is nota smart move, what is known is the team is still losing and recruitment is key. for context,Chelsea had the same problem,they just went about it different. they got young hungry players then got the right coach. what united is doing is the opposite, they got the coach now its the players next. smart decisions rarely look smart until the results are visible, trust the man spending his own money to bankroll the club to have the best interest at heart. a good leader rarely makes the popular decision.

People speak about "best in class." What is it that Dan Ashworth has done that could give him this title? I wasn't convinced from the outset.
@SerioussoccerfanYT3 күн бұрын
Who is befitting of that title in your view ? Get Txiki Bergiristan and Ferran Soriano, they have previously worked with Omar, have settled in England and Manchester too and most of all, have won the PL.
@sportsfan74603 күн бұрын
My only thought is Ashworth probably wanted to have full ownership on footballing matters, as a sporting director would want. Berrada is also a footballing person, so can see where the clashes might come. I feel like the decision to get Amorin would have been taken by Berrada, where as i could see appointments like Potter and Southgate being favoured by Ashworth. I feel Ashworth saw the glass ceiling there, and probably felt underused if the club. It seemed a strange mix. If anything Wilcox, Vivel and Berrada seems a better mix. If Berrada has sporting control as CEO, we need more a head if recruitment than a DOF.
@enfado233 күн бұрын
I agree - part of it might be the drastic change that is linked with Amorim's arrival - we are now wedded to the 3-4-3 system which is different to recruit for compared to the variations on 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1, remember when Van Gaal came in years ago and all the upheaval in recruitment trying to change half the playing squad to fit a different system. If Berrada pushed through the Amorim appointment then Ashworth could have rightly felt that getting a different coach in (akin to Slot coming in at Liverpool, using same system as of pre-existing squad) would have meant less forced turnover in playing squad in the next 2 years. I support Amorim coming in but it's a gamble to change a lot of the playing squad during his tenure, to suit a system that very few other coaches use

One of three things: 1: It just didn’t work out (not likely considering the time they waited for him) 2: Clashed with someone. Ashworth has crossed the line somewhere with someone. 3: He has been talking to someone outside the club. Considering how quick this has happened and his past, I actually think this is the most likely. We’ll see what will happen but this is very strange.
