Love it. Some solid tracks but the album as a while, meh. Thoughts?

Dan makes me able to time travel. I was just roller skating at the beach in California in 1969. Man things seemed more complicated but so much more simple back then...and I was born in '82...and never been to California. . Thanks Dan 👍. Was a fun trip. 😊

The games we play The tales we spin It's always the way Original sin Would you dive for me In the icy sea Pry me free from this life I lead Undertow, sad old memories from so long ago Here they come to drag me down below Here it comes, the undertow Solider of fortune, or broke down dog Sign of the scorpion, or a hollow log Would you dive for me In the icy sea Pry me free from this life I lead Undertow, sad old memories from so long ago Here they come to drag me down below Here it comes, the undertow Undertow, sad old memories from so long Here they come to drag me down below Here it comes, the undertow

Most of the songs on this album sounds like they could have been recorded by other artists, to me - and been hits! Cherry Bomb - either Beck circa 1999, or Morphine if you swap in a sax. Undertow - Huey Lewis, or Hall & Oates. Livin In Sin - the Dead. Shine one Me - the Dead, John Mellencamp. Waiting on a Song - early, early rock, or even country western. Shine on Me - George Harrison. Malibu Man - I don't know, I just love it - something by John Lennon, or Steely Dan??? Never In My WIldest Dreams - Feist, Jesseca Lea Mayfield, David Mayfield, after listening to Lead belly. Stand By My Girl - Elvis Costello and Ringo together. King of a One Horse Town - I don't know, but I love it - help me here! This album just takes me to so many different places, but it works as an album, too. Amazing use of session stars to make something so "retro" (if you can still use that word) yet true, pure, and relevant.

Anyone else think this song's chorus sounds sort of like Allen Toussaint's Southern Nights or something else incredibly familiar and well known?

Emily Black I definitely hear some of "Southern Nights" in the melody as well. Still love the song though.

Anthony Miglieri definitely a great song regardless. I was just searching all day for what this song sounded like and I think this could be it.

I guess Dan ain't feeling the blues no mo"! I know I sure am. Aching for the grit but it just ain't there. Oh well who am I to judge. Still great stuff just not what I'm looking for right now, but I get it . He gotta do what he wants cause no doubt Dan is the man and a true artist!

There are way too many bands doing fuzzy blues nowadays. The style itself became a cliche in my opinion.
