Dan Berglund - The murdered people's free republic (De mördades fria republik) English translation (by me): I ate my porridge and read the newspaper, took the bag in my hand and kissed the missus, the snow was deep and the night had seen my steps, here on the road, where I had walked for the past thirteen years. And on this day, the wind blew from north, we welded on the deck thirty meters above ground. Then I heard a roar, and someone shouted: -Sven!: but all disappeared in blood and fire and night came again. Then I woke up, in a coffin made of spruce, and thought that this didn't look so good; and the missus cried, and looked like a ghost, while the priest prayed to God with his nose high in the sky. I then was lowered down, into my small home, and started rolling my thumbs in my quiet loneliness, when I heard someone say: -Dear comrade and corpse; Welcome to the murdered people's free republic. And down there beside stones, beside roots, sand and earth, people were laying in rows, the whole place was full: of women and men, that had worked once upon a time, and they rose up so the earth shook and started to sing a song: "We were murdered in the Swedish industries, we are five hundred every year that are slaughtered like pigs, in the factories where they use us like disposables, and the biggest murderer of all is Jacob Wallenberg. We were the ones who kept his factory going, we were the ones who fell, and were carried out as corpses we bowed to the hangman, we made him fat and prosperous, while the social democrats and the union ran and polished his shoes. Now we demand vengeance, hear our furious cry, it is heard through the machines' sound in every factory, it is heard in the wind's whoosh and in the high pine trees' cries, and it requires you to do your duty and avenge us some time. And through the machinery we are singing for you all: * Study Marx and Lenin and arise, class against class, the fight must stand, and in silence we will then arise and be with you." * Nowadays, the line is: Make sure to wake up and arise some time.

Fan vad bra !

My english translation: As dawn broke, I stirred my porridge pot. Skimmed through the news, tied my shoes in a knot. Heading out to the door I kissed my wife goodbye. Walking in the snow I didn’t know I’d die. The wind blew north on that bitter day, Welding on decks, with quite a modest pay. Then I heard a roar, and someone shouted, "Sven!", The world faded in the flames and night fell again. Then I awoke in a coffin made of pine, It was rather tragic this damned this fate of mine. My love in tears, asking herself "why"? While the priest prayed to God, nose pointed at the sky. I was lowered to my humble cell, Twiddling my thumbs in a silent farewell. Then a voice said: "comrade among the slain, Welcome to the republic where the murdered reign. Amongst the stones, roots, sand, and loam, Lay people in rows, the Earth as their home. Women and men who once toiled in pain, rose up so the earth shook and sang this refrain. In the industry we met our doom. Hundreds a year are led to their tomb. In the factories where they drain our soul, And the biggest murderer is Wallenberg the ghoul. We kept his factories running day and night, but not all of us left them upright. Forced to manufacture our own noose, but socdems and the unions were polishing his shoes. We demand vengeance, our battle cry is clear, Through the clatter of machines, it's what you'll hear. In the winds' whispers and the forest's plea, it demands that you act, and set our spirits free. And through the machines, our voices sing to thee, Study Marx and Lenin, unite and be free. Class against class, the battle must commence. And we’ll rise, amidst the fight, to help in your defence.
