Dan Combs was a friend of my father, Neal Knox. I saw him give a demonstration that included a Thompson at a bench rest rifle match around 1975. Remarkable man. Glad to see that the Dan Combs heritage is being preserved.

I worked with his nephew Jack Combs, he said Dan's hands were so fast he could beat the Pee out of you. We lost of the Combs family too soon.

Great video, this guy could give Jerry Miculek a run. I really like the phrase its not the empty gun its the empty head that kills.

I've watched a few of these videos. Times have changed. This was before speedloaders were in common use. Trigger discipline was a little different. I do like his finger spins, though. He uses his middle finger behind the trigger. I've watched some of the old FBI traing videos, too. All their training was shooting one handed. Even in 1973 when I qualified with a .45 in the Army, using two hands was optional.

Before the days of retention holsters....

That is a retention holster. Listen close when he holsters it.

Is he bump firing the revolver at 2:30 ?
@knndyskful3 жыл бұрын
Uh not so much bump fire as it is hammer fire, bump fire involves the trigger bouncing off your finger, hammer fire involves holding the trigger down and hitting the hammer
@oilhammer043 жыл бұрын
@@knndyskful, thanks for the clarification.

Yeah he uses his other hand, index finger inside the trigger guard, to run it.

Jerry doesn't have the fast draw that this man has. Fast draw never really has been his thing, though.

This is fast. No speed holster used like the pro shooters use.
@markayers53973 жыл бұрын
David, Dan did design some of his own holsters, I have one.
@josephhiggins721623 күн бұрын
Today's pro shooters don't have to spend hours at a time sitting in a patrol car. Or wrestling with bad guys.

I came on Texas D.P.S. in 1979 and the Jordan Holster was the issue holster. Just about every police agency in the country was using it.
@davidgomez97595 жыл бұрын
Back then, you had no safety holsters or equipment. That’s impressive in any era.
