I've read the manga and this is really faithful. I think the only big difference is that the suspenseful and horror aspects feel heavier animated. you can push past them a bit and just focus on the humor when reading but not seeing it play out on screen. I don't think the folks that are complaining were ready for how dark like JJK/Chainsawman this really was and don't want to think about how what's coming is going to make them feel.
