Toller Song. Dan Hartman war ein toller Musiker (und Produzent). Leider viel zu früh verstorben.

That is true. As a producer and musician, Dan was at his absolute peak with Tina Turner's album “Foreign Affair”. Seven of the twelve songs as producer. Plus two together with Tina. He also brought his long-time musical multi-instrumentalist friend Edgar Winter on board for his fantastic saxophone solo on the anthem “The Best”. R.i.P. Daniel Earl Hartman

@@btsr2553 I did not realise he worked with Tina Turner. I Can Dream About You is a classic song and it really impressed when it was a hit in a strong UK chart scene at the time. He also produced Paul King's solo album Joy. I am a huge fan of King who owned 1985 in Britain with seven appearances of TOTP as they enjoyed a string of hits.

@ Thanks for the tip. I didn't know that about Paul King alias “King”. Paul King is actually only known here for “Love And Pride”. I'll have to take a closer look at the LP “Joy”. The engineer of “Joy” was, mind you, the master Chris Lord-Alge. The latter was involved in a total of around thousand productions somewhere as an engineer in the 80s. Back to Dan Hartmann. Dan was an introverted person. Private matters were out of the question. Not even in the studio. From a reliable source in Tina's immediate environment, and believe me, the album “Foreign Affair” was her personal favorite. In addition, the sudden death of Dan hit Tina right in the heart. She appreciated Dan for the way he worked. The two of them got on “blindly” in the studio. Somehow, I was told, it wasn't the same with Tina after Dan's death. Both were somewhere perfectionists and also work-a-holics who appreciated each other very much.

@@btsr2553 Thanks for the reply. Interesting comments about production, including the reference to Tina Turner. King released two albums-Steps In Time and Bitter Sweet. Hits in the UK included Love and Pride, of course, Taste Of Your Tears, Alone, and Won't You Hold My Hand Now. I prefer the second album as I think there are some excellent tracks on it although it was less successful than their debut. Paul King's voice is great and the band were proper musicians- live concert footage underlines their abilities. Paul King went on to be an MTV and subsequently VH1 VJ. It is a shame King did not continue and his solo album did not do well in the UK. I am not keen on it either. I once knew someone who was in the same class as him at school who said he was very pleasant to everyone and it was clear his musical ambition would probably come to fruition.
