Dan Henderson MMA Techniques of the Week Single Leg Takedown Right vs Right Hand

In this week's techniques of the week, Dan explains how to execute a single leg take down against a right handed opponent.
You begin with a punch combo and follow your right hand with your right foot and bring it outside of your opponent's foot. Change levels and put your head in his chest, while staying high. Hook your hands around the knee and focus on a strong grip. You then "run the pipe" and apply pressure on the top of his thigh with your shoulder. Pull the leg back towards you, step back and push down.

This is a very under utilized takedown in mma. Seems guys are always looking for the double leg and highlight slam, they waste so much energy against the cage when they could use this.

What a great, relaxed way of instruction. I could never work the 'running the pipe' until Dan demonstrated the crucial detail I was missing..the isolating of the opponents hip with your shoulder as he shows here. Many thanks.
