Tommy Kono might be the best weightlifter in history, and he has been the Olympic coach for three different countries! His teaching materials are fantastic.

Being good at something and being good at TEACHING something are two different things. What did Cus d'Amato accomplish as a boxer, and was that what made him a good boxing trainer? Likewise, what did Mike Tyson accomplish as a boxer, and do you think that would make him a good boxing trainer? Dan John teaches weightlifting for a living. He was taught the Olympic lifts by Dick Notmeyer.

I like Dan John - but find it somewhat weird that he says that he would not correct an incorrect bar path when training with pvc or light weights. As I see it training the wrong motion is learning the wrong motion - thus having to unlearn it when attempting to go up in weights? thx for posting - interesting vid :)

His point was 1) you don't have to unlearn it because it's impossible to do with heavy weight, so he's not worried about it. And 2) the default path you would take would be the correct one

Kono makes the exact same "tight hamstring, legs almost straight" point in this video. Exactly the same. watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=wt423i1w6vs#t=460s
