Yup. First real breakup I've been through happened a month ago. This is going to be my anthem. I still love her. But now I don't have her showing up anywhere I can see it easily. I refuse to mope in my own self pity. I refuse to be one stagnant. I refuse to put my entire life on hold because I'm sad. Fuck that. You will see me.

This song was my salvation ~ 5 years ago it pushed me passed pain and into inspired negativity ~ angry success. In my rejection, dropped by a careless man, I applied to grad school in another country. 5 years later I have a Master's degree. A kind husband. A cozy home. And still I'm brimming with ambition. This song woke something in me back then. And it keeps burning today.

You are my new inspiration... My muse And I mean that not as a compliment I will use you to cruise through any writer's block Any lazy daze when a glazed gaze invades my mind's cave of creativity I will think of you... and what you did to me I will take negativity and make it inspire me I was not a book from a library As I stand here alone, I declare I was not a loan To be picked up and dropped off at a later date And you barely even made my spine bend Just skimmed through some of the interesting bits then skipped to the end The notes you left in my margins turned from scribbles to scars But here's the best part: You didn't even realise you were reading the first draft of a best seller The manuscript of a future Nobel prize winner This book you discarded as a pamphlet will ignite shit I will write ten times harder than before I will create art, I will create beauty I will create so many things that you can't ignore But I will not do them in your name I will not shout you from the roof tops I will tap your name out in morse code on my outer thigh As I casually accept plaudits from on high I will not to try to win you back I do not want you back I just want to show you I just need to show you what you fucking walked away from I will achieve all my goals ten-fold I will achieve your goals too, casually I will have happiness and joy in my life I will fall in love; husband, child and wife I will shine brighter than I could ever have dreamed to be And you will see me And you will see. Me I will make rivers run red in your anonymity The screams of nations will echo our affinity My wrath will be relentless My path of destruction will be momentously momentous I will change the face of history and paint it in my likeness And I will like this I will destroy everything that you hold dear By simply destroying everything far and near My footsteps will be impossible not to hear I will watch you from afar and taste each tear I will wipe out entire races I will erase faces and displace with great haste and no graces This world will become my plaything Embracing my ways and then just breaking I will burn this entire world to the ground I will leave a mark greater than any have ever left before I will lay waste by land, air and sea And you will see me And you. Will see. Me

I have had pain from my past that lead me to alcoholism. I had a room mate that I have told him about me problems. I asked if he could help me, and motivate me. But he didn't . He spoke with the other room mates that were there and he writen a letter saying if I don't change my ways then "there will be serious consequences" he says. I trusted him with things of my past, he always treated me like shit, never kept his promises, and used my weakness to get back at me. Called me weak,said that my father never cared for me, and that I am a coward to my face. I couldn't put up with that so I made plans to slowly get out out of that place and I spoken to the land lord about, and they were alright with it. Thank God. And now I am thriving on my own, without his help. He was a terrible friend, and I am glad I don't talk to him anymore

Is wanton slaughter evil? Of course. But acting like a man that casts away the chains of rules, and possibilities isn't inherently evil but if they do decide to be evil it's catastrophic, and if good it's the greatest thing ever and marks a golden age, conquerors are dangerous, and risky because their gods among men humans with limitless potential. And to the common man that's too risky
@mondaysinsanity81936 жыл бұрын
I think the "lay waste by land air and sea" bit is more metaphorical he's saying he'll do absolutely anything that he no longer cares for repercussions simply results simply the goal like I said dangerous but not evil

Alas, the sovereign... Self, individual, confusing, trouble, the weight on the shoulders, the antagony being truly ones on agony, the irony in the mirror image, the show coming to a stand still, the pause in your speech, the smirk on my face when teased towards getting into an argument, the baseness in real, the building block that was there, is here and there before... The one plus one, the sum, what is and what's what, the beginning and the end, the only thing, the everything... ETC. P.S. Did you catch my drift. Did you see? Its what is real and the simple 'to be' portion when questioned with what is the action to be taken, thus "to be or not to be" that is tha question. Coincidentally... Sincerely and with politeness, Mr. A. L. Hudson

Erm if you have gone through so many break ups in that short period of time then the problem maybe you so take a look at yourself. This is not an insult or attack but talking from personal experience, and only after looking more closely at myself and making changes did I meet my current partner of over 20 years. It wasn't changing my core self but noticing the peripheral things and changing them that made me able to accept such a commitment.

I know for most, this is a breakup song. To me, this reminds me of the hell my mind has went through getting over the abusive programming from a two faced parent. As I stand today, I can look back on the long road I've traversed, and the even longer one yet to go, and instead of crumpling under the weight, I now rise and go forward. And this song has, today and so often, reminded me not to give up, and to always get *back* up when I stumble.

To be honest with you, nobody is right, everyone has an opinion. Depending on where you stand the number on the ground is either a six or a nine. The only thing you can't argue with is facts and facts don't need to be debated. You only think you're right even if you fully believe it but you're always going to be guided by your own sense of morals and ethics. The only way to know for sure that what you're arguing for is the truth is to start with the assumption that it's the lie and try and tear it down with the same ferocity that you'd defend it with. Facts are absolutes you can form an opinion around a fact but that opinion can still be wrong even if the fact itself is right. The number on the ground is a number all you can do is narrow it down to that. Stating anything else would make you wrong in someone's opinion and them wrong in yours.

to be honest, i think there is a strong irony in the song. it's not about empowerment. it's about the vicious cycle, when the abused one turns into an abuser. it paints the psychological background of wishing to dominate others, since the own will has been broken.
@KitsyX7 жыл бұрын
Depending how you interpret it, I think it could be either... I'm not sure what he intended it to mean, although it could possibly still represent something else, I suppose, regardless of the conscious intention... Anyway, if you think about it, you do kinda get power by becoming an abuser, so it technically could still be about empowerment regardless... Although I don't think it's the type of empowerment we should want... I'd also add that wanting to or being better than someone doesn't necessarily end in the abuse of those they wish to surpass.

The way I see it, the narrator is definitely NOT the good guy. He has ambition and drive, yes, but his sole motivation as presented through the lyrics is revenge; he holds resentment toward a person from his past which he cannot let go of and that becomes his sole motivator. If he loses that resentment he has nothing to hold him in the present. But no one can build a life based on resentment alone, which is why he is doomed to either failure, misery or both. Basically, don't just do stuff. Do stuff for the right reason.
@porpsi6 жыл бұрын
To me it speaks of pain and bitterness, but also of resilience and a determination born from that pain. It's a moment after a very hard period of time when you've been emotionally crushed when suddenly you say "y'know what.. No. I wont let this ruin me. I will recover stronger than you could ever have imagined". I think it's that very first moment of recovery, so of course the bitterness exists but will fade with time leading to a stronger person... but as all good lyrics/poetry, people can take different things from it and interpret it in different ways. It's so damned powerful.

Do they say ex or break up? A break up can be of an intimate relationship of familial one. To me it is one of, if not, the best break up song.

Two words: Great work. Scroobius Pip is the only one I have heard make "inspiration" and "muse" sound bad. Given they are usually used in a positive way it is not an easy thing to do. Absolutely nothing to do with the work or talent, but I always thought he was hairier than that. Is some of that body art real as opposed to make up?

I think it might be make up

My view: Toxic masculinity. The song starts like a positively driven man, then descents into literally a hellish nightmare without any control.

Welcome and have fun listening to more of his music. He is the one who got me into this genre. I wouldn't have bothered with it if I hadn't heard "Introdiction" on the radio. Then he had a radio show and introduced me to more. Something I will always be grateful for.
