Tina's character was originally a boy named Dan, still played by Dan Mintz. Loren thought it might be interesting if the character was a girl, so they took the same lines as the pilot episode and redrew a rough sketch of what is now Tina. They also animated this version of Tina over Dan's standup comedy to see how it played out. So yeah, they really did! haha
