@vitalyaloves6 ай бұрын
At least in their videos he doesn’t really talk to the flyers, at least not very casually. He seems to have the “women are a different species” mindset. He can joke with the other bases (aka why he wants them to be straight dudes) but feels the need to put on a performance around the women or otherwise avoid them altogether. If he treated the flyers, and women in general including women he was into, more like he treated his friends he would already know how to talk to them. Like people lol.
@tluvsbeauty15 ай бұрын
@@vitalyalovesyeah, I’m a long time fan of the vids, but the clear subconscious misogyny became more obvious over time, unfortunately:/ I found it pretty shocking to start to realize, bc I had originally given them the benefit of the doubt, assuming that men who spend countless hours one teams with women, that they wouldn’t see women as totally different than men…
@vitalyaloves5 ай бұрын
@@tluvsbeauty1 Yeah, after many years I have come to accept that what men do and say in other areas of their lives predicts very little about how they see and treat women. @aliross27208 ай бұрын
I mean this is the nicest way(and I can tell you guys won't be easily offended) but you could do with working on your emotional intelligence. Daniel seems like a smart guy but seems compromised by a really low and immature emotional intelligence Sometimes educating yourself more on your own psychology, motivations , mindset and the psychology of human relationships in general can help a lot. Logic and reason work best when it's working together and tenpered with emotional intelligence and understanding...kind of like empathy can be one of the highest forms of intelligence. That and having a strong stable sense of self an learning to define who and what you are and not caring so much on what others opinions of you are. You don't need others to tell you who you are or affirm your worth or any of these things. Self love and self worth/esteem helps. When you are truly happy in your own skin it won't matter if you get rejected because you know it' doesn't define you and it's more about the person rejecting you. The healthier and more well adjusted you become the more you will attract healthy like minded people. The relationships we have with others mirrors the relationship we have with ourselves. Have a better relationship and understanding about yourself and you will have better relationships with others and be able to spot more easily unhealthy people who aren't doing the same and you won't be attracted to them.

A wholeeeee lot to unpack in this episode. I would say you will always have problems until you fix the true issue within yourself first. No matter how masculine you are or others are that's on the team, if you aren't confident in yourself and in your own sexuality then gays and those not "masculine in the sport will always seem to be a problem for you. All sports or activities have people of all orientations, the thing is yes Cheerleading has it's stereotypes, but if that is the road you chose to travel it just comes with the territory and you have to grow strong in your own confidence and sexuality. Still a fan and love the content, this one just was a little rough lol Still laughed through alot of it. Bonde is a gem!

I think Dan's going after the wrong girls. He needs to go after a confident nerdy girl who understands awkwardness. Someone who's not expecting him to be super Charming just because he looks like Prince Charming. Someone who may actually make the first move. I think if you feel uncomfortable around gay ppl in your sport, then the goal should be to work on that and not having to bring more straight guys in. Its of course very valid wanting to have the right group of ppl around that you click with but this sounded a bit off the way you phrased it.

Yeah, he just needs to kind of flip that. A gay person going into a predominantly straight sport like football or basketball? How do they feel? How would it be for them to say there needs to be more gay people in the sport? lol
@dinuraiga3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm a gay male dancer living in Wisconsin (Where Dan's originally from), and a lot of male dancers quit the sport because they're afraid of being thought of as gay. But making the sport more "masculine" by getting more straight guys into it doesn't fix the problem (the homophobia). It just buries it and makes people like me feel bad about who we are. IMO, what we actually need is to become more comfortable with allowing femininity in sports and to stop bullying people that embrace their feminine side regardless of whether they're a guy or girl, gay or straight etc.
@vihta545Ай бұрын
This has nothing to do with homophobia. It's about getting rid of a stigma in order to make a sport more popular. I'm a male nurse and I remember as a child being a nurse was considered a "job for women" because there were only very few men doing this job, and a lot of them were very feminine. Over the years more and more men became nurses to a point where it mostly lost this stigma and now has become a more popular job decision among every gender race and orientation. That is a good thing.
@dinuraigaАй бұрын
@vihta545 I'm sorry to disagree, but I think there's still a layer of internalized homophobia at play here. Dan says that he was trying to get more guys into the sport, and immediately after, he says that he went to Florida, where there were more masculine guys like him. In other words, he went to an area where masculine male cheerleaders already were. That does nothing to add male cheerleaders in the places where they are lacking. If you water a plant that has already been watered and ignore the plant that's dry, you're not fixing the problem, you're escaping it. Wanting to remove a stigma is admirable, and that might be what he wants on some level, but that's not what happened here. It would be more effective to be "the masculine straight guy" who does cheer in the area where that's unheard of, so that other straight guys can see that and realize that it's for them too, rather than just leave for an area that already doesn't have that stigma just so you don't have to be around the gay guys.

As a gay man we tend to look for an interest in each other physically and we know that we will support each other financially when we find the right partner and we don’t have to worry about that like yall do .
