Most of the people who make it far in that show are extremely talented, and some artists like Dan Owen have found a platform they would've never otherwise found. Because the truth is that as much as we'd like it to be, talent doesn't equal success. There are many equally talented people to Dan Owen who will never find a substantial audience.

Anyone who makes it through to the semi finals in x factor have to sign a contract that effectively means that Simon Cowel owns you for the next 10 years!! I'm sure The Voice has some similar arrangement! I've heard some of his originals and they are good, I think the old fashioned way of gigging everywhere and letting success come in due time might suit this guy better, just my opinion though :)

I was forunate enough to see you at the Cognac Blues Passions last weekend and loved your set. If I had not had my eyes open I would have thought you were 60 years old. Your singing/playing is something else Dan. I was especially pleased when you did a great version of "The Ballad of Hollis Brown", a song I used to play regularly years ago. After hearing your version I'm going to re-visit this one again. The audience was wiith you all the way and really appreciated your set. I was going to talk to you afterwards but couldn't get close enough, because of all the females crowding round asking how old you were. Ah the price of fame.....!
