Congrats to ND, they played an amazing 2nd half after it looked like they had lost 2 offensive lineman and their starting QB in the 1st half. Felt like it was all PSU 1st half until backup QB did an amazing job getting them a late FG . Then, ND offense came out and ran the ball down PSUs throats. However, somebody tell me what team would have faired much better against that Alabama roster in 2012. It's obvious why Angeli isn't the starter if you watched him throughout this season when he played. He is a good, confident backup QB who can operate the offense when he has to. When everything goes right, he can look really good. When there is pressure, or things fall apart, he absolutely faulters. That's where Riley excels, and he's made a offensive line that was wrecked by injures look way better than it is this year. There should be so many more sacks, but he escapes from them & Steve doesn't. So many negative plays that Riley turns into a positive. Notre Dame does not win against Georgia with Steve in the game.

The reason the stink of that national championship loss stuck with ND is because they kept proving it right. 2016 Fiesta Bowl-lost to Ohio State, 2018 Cotton Bowl-lost to Clemson, 2020 ACC championship-lost to Clemson, 2021 Rose Bowl-lost to Alabama. All of those reaffirmed the reputation of getting beat in those sorts of games. I think the Sugar and Orange Bowls this year have helped give ND a bit of shine back again. Come on, Dan you can’t be that silly. Notre Dame secondary has proven against quite a few teams that they have a very good secondary. So now suddenly it’s all the coach and quarterback. Could be that Notre Dame’s second day was just too tough against Penn State’s wide receivers. They sometimes call it lockdown coverage. Notre Dame plays exclusively man defense. That’s no easy task. I think you need to give them credit. Penn State is a good football team. They just haven’t faced that good of a secondary before or they just underestimated how good Notre Dame secondary was. I guess we will see soon.

I’d rather be BK bc that team includes players I recruited. Also, BK was facing a team led by a coach who had already locked down a HOF career. Saban and Bama were VASTLY superior to any coach Freeman has faced. Ppl forget that Saban already had 2 national championships. And the fact that BK was using holdovers from Weis as opposed to Saban who was on his fifth year. The foundation for this Irish team is incredibly stronger than how barren it was when BK took over. And BK actually did beat #1. Franklin wasn’t ever close to beating #1.

Two years later, Ohio State beat Oregon by 22 points in the national championship game, a week after Oregon beat defending champ Florida State by 39 points in the semi final. Blowouts happen, I'm not sure why ND gets so much shit for theirs. In 2019, ND lost to Clemson by 27 points in the semi, who then beat Alabama by 28 points. Guess Alabama sucks! In 2021 Alabama beat ND by 17 points in the semi, then Ohio State by 28 in the final. How will Ohio State ever recover! SO BAD! Two years ago Georgia beat TCU by . . . checks notes . . . 58 points. Last year Michigan beat Washington by 21 points. For fucks sake, ND's finals and semi-finals defeats in recent history have been some of the _least_ embarrassing, and Notre Dame hasn't been paying their players and letting them skate by with 1.0's in Underwater Basket Weaving.
