I just realized that Doof is fully justified in only recognizing Perry when he is in the hat because in the episode where Perry "runs away" and Phineas and Ferb call a whole bunch of platypus to try and find Perry. All platypus just look identical. So Doof isn't dumb for not recognizing Perry without the hat because he looks like every other platypus in existence.

It’s so crazy that I’m 21 and I loved this show so much when I was a kid. I remember watching the travel into the future episode dozens of times and then searching the ones that weren’t on tv on the baby KZbin. And now, in college, I’m actually eating dinner while watching one of the shows creators talk about it. Another fact: I’m Brazilian, so it took me several videos to understand this was the original voice actor for Doc 😂 (in case you were wondering yes, they gave doc an amazing voice in Brazil)
