I see people all around talking about their "true love", and how "they wouldn't live without each other", but break up and forget each other after a couple months. And then I see Dan & Phil and I realise what true love actually is (before anyone freaks out, love doesn't always have to be between two lovers, two friends can love each other too). I'm so envious because I think I'll never love someone as much as they love each other, even the thought of losing Phil freaks Dan out, but I'm sure Phil would never leave him, because he knows Dan needs him. Several points I'd like to make on Dan's behavior throughout the video. Around 0:24 Dan looks like he is about to say something in reply to Phil saying "pretty smooth", but then he tightly closes his lips and folds them inside his mouth (twice). He looks kind of distracted as well, like he's thinking about something else. Around 0:33 Dan's voice cracks around the word "proposal", like he was rushing to get the word said and then he quickly turns his attention to the screen. It's not casual behavior; it's very uptight. Once again, there is this look of complexity on his face that hints he's thinking about something else. Around the time Dan is listening to the tape, he smiles wide, then immediately drops it, and smiles once more (repeat). This reflects a kind of forceful attitude. For example, when you get embarrassed you may try to laugh it off (even though you're not amused) and it will look and feel fake, like you're trying too hard. When people smile forcefully, it's in order to channel their current emotion into something more presentable; it's basically a defense mechanism that tries to show the opposite emotion of which you are internally feeling. Also around the time Dan is listening to the tape, he moves around A LOT. It's extremely fidgety. Phil just stands fairly still and Dan does things like put his hands to his waist, pace back and forth, move from leg to leg, and look around repetitively. This hints that he is uncomfortable. Around 0:56 Dan laughs and it's almost mocking. It doesn't seem very genuine. The smile is very tight too. Around 1:01 and on, (Dan's reaction) he first widens his eyes. This is done very comically, as if his brain was running really fast and hit a break all of a sudden. Right after that, his brain processes the words more properly and he gets this look of confusion/disbelief. He then brings his head down (almost as if to distract himself) However, most interesting of all is actually Phil's reaction. He raises his arms in a cheerful-manner, but is looking at Dan all the while. As soon as Dan's mood turns, Phil's smile slowly drops and his eyes look a little questioning (it looked like he was thinking "why aren't you smiling?") Phil then picks up his smile and it's a tiny curve on his face, almost as if he still found the idea amusing/pleasing. Lastly, at the end when Dan is putting up the pieces of paper, it seems also somewhat unpleasant. And when Dan initially puts the papers up to face Phil, his eyes almost look like they're daring him (very intense). When Phil shakes his thumbs, Dan looks very intently at them. But, when he faces them upwards, it appears as if Dan cracks a smile. This is hard to tell though, since it's the last 0.2 second of the video. I can't decide if it's out of genuine amusement or if it's out of thinking about some negative notion. Overall, Dan looks uncomfortable and his actions seem forceful. Not saying any of this means anything, it's just interesting behavior. I could be totally wrong on everything, but this is how I personally perceived his body language to mean.

Mollie: I should've stepped him up on that offer. At first Dan was smiling as if "Nah, he's mine." or maybe "She won't live with him, he loves me.", then when he realised what Mollie said his face was just like "what?" And then it stated to get really poker faced. And then you could see he was lost, and sad. It's cute, but no, he's hurt, you can't do that. It's not even the Phan ship anymore -actually, it is, but shh- it's the fact that Dan would not be able to live like he does now, if Phil wasn't his housemate. I have not met Dan in person, but I'm quite positive that he's the type of person who's a social person but then there's actually no one totally beside him. It's just Phil. Okay I know Phan is not real... But I feel like they should be. - They both look up to each other. It's very obvious in numerous ways. - They interact so well together. They have so much fun together. They practically live together. Their story is so interesting too. It's adorable and romantic. I feel like Dan is very adorable when it comes to Phil. Dan is a lot more expressive when it comes to emotions, so when he's excited he's verrrrry excited, when he's down he is just very down... and his whole personality is just very intriguing. And when he's jealous... he really can't hide it as well as he thinks he is. Phil is very odd and random like Dan, but he's a little more different. He's not as sensitive as Dan, so he doesn't get jealous easily. I feel like... it's hard to figure out how he feels for Dan, because he's Phil. You can't really tell... A lot of things fly around his brain, and I feel like he can't completely see that Dan really reeeally likes him. I feel like in Phan it's more Dan -> Phil. And all I know is, from what I can tell, Phil goes really well with Dan. Sometimes I feel like he's just going along with Dan, and letting him lead. But I honest;y believe they both love each other a lot. And if they became a thing, it would be just really great. And I don't know, maybe all this has to dp with age difference, or no.. how much Phil has made an effect on Dan's life, then Dan would let on. Anyways lol. I however know that Phan is not real, and I'm preeeeetty sure this was all just my inner shipping fangirl speaking out. I'm pretty sure they're straight, and are good friends and nothing more. It's both cute yet sad how Dan reacts whenever the prospect of Phil leaving comes up. I'm 100% sure that Dan knows by now (and should have known once they moved in together) that Phil is in this for the long haul yet whenever the suggestion/thought/possibility of Phil leaving arises, Dan's initial reaction is always one of loss, being lost and you can even go so far as to say [premature]grief. He could just joke around, say "have a nice life together" which is a point he eventually gets to, eg. the Pholly/OTP-NOTP signs, but his first instinctual reaction is always one of shocked horror and I wonder sometimes if after all this time together Dan maybe believes it really will happen one day. We all know how much they mean to one another but stuff like this also shows how dependent Dan is on Phil. Not physically and certainly not financially but definitely emotionally. It also shows how insecure Dan is, like he feels Phil can do better than him, which is why I don't get how some people think he's cocky and arrogant. They completely misinterpret his sarcastic, sassy ways. I sometimes think that w/o Phil Dan would cease to function. Considering how miserable, lonely and empty his life was before Phil came along, it's no wonder he has such strong reactions at the mere thought of losing him. My heart weeps for the lonely boy he used to be and the scared one that still lives inside of him.

I wish I had a friend either like Dan or Phil - you know what, I wish I had a relationship and Dan and Phil's. Whether it's a friendship or a romantic relationship, I want something like this. A bond, a true bond between me and another person. Lovers or not that was actual sadness on Dan's face. If he didn't love Phil (platonically or not) he would have brushed it off and just smile but his smile it was gone the second Mollie said she would. This is actual love because Dan didn't have a best friend for his whole life until he met Phil and he doesn't want to lose him. If I was him I would also do the otp or notp signs too just to say "hey idc" to the audience (which is obviously a lame attempt) it's like when you fall and people laugh and you try to brush it off.
