One of the greatest books I’ve ever read. Simmons is a genius

I read my first Simmons novel last month ( The Terror ) and was completely blown away! I've almost finished Drood ( again superb ) and Dan is fast becoming my favourite writer. What a talent he is.

@richiebabe24 i haven't read much of his stuff. summer of night was pretty good: think stephen king's 'It'. Carrion Comfort was pretty good too- a bit overlong -& i usually like long books. nothing as good as The Terror, i'm afraid. this is off topic, i know, but i'd reccomend 'Swan Song' -not by Simmons. it's a post apocalyptic story. really long too!

Robert McGammon! I agree, very cool book, fast moving, well written and all. Still got it in my shelf.

@freedo333 - I've read 'The Terror' and it was great, but as you say, 'Drood' seems a bit boring. Can you recommend any other Dan Simmons books you thought were the same calibre as 'The Terror'?

Summer of Night / Hyperion

@@vanishing_girl Definetely Hyperion, The Abominable is good but not quite at The Terror tier
@vanishing_girl3 жыл бұрын
@@michaeltalerico5806 yeah I agree, but are you bringing up The Abominable just because or did you think I mentioned that lol?
@Barbabapan2 ай бұрын
Hyperion maybe? (And the 3 sequels that belong to the main story, no sense in reading only 1. Alltogether around 2800 pages.)

i just read it. it was well written but kind of boring. like most, i liked "The Terror" more
