This was a house party Banger back in the days for me. I remember how the base trembled through the project halls walking into the building to get to the party..(Sheep dogs and Leather Bomber with the phat fur around the hoodies area). New York was New York back then true hip hop you couldn't tell us nothin...Nuff respect to Dana Dane.

Dana really came off with this song. I was telling my man Dana that California was feeling”nightmares” back in 1985 when it came out as a single. He did very well that that song and career. I’m so proud of him and his success. On a side note, I heard the “Anita the beast line” back for the first time back in 1982 when we’re basketball backcourt teammates playing for Cassandra Roland in CYO basketball tournament. We were on the “G” train coming from Bushwick after blowing a team out by 25 points(smile..lol). Yes, we knew how to play ball. Anyway, I was using my hands drumming and rocking “impeach the president” by the honeydrippers beat on the side( I was a hip hop Dj) to the train and Dana was free styling and when he said that Anita the beast line. It was the funniest shit I heard in a very long time. He had the whole train car dying in laughter. Yes, Dana could been a comedian as well because he was that funny. He can snap, rank, join, do mommy jokes, etc his funny game was on point. Great flashback when I hear this song. Again, I’m so proud of my homeboy Dana for his musical endeavors.

These 80s legends should have continued releasing their material like KRS is still doing. Those of us that grew up listening to the early hiphop wanted that style to continue and were fed up with having to endure what came after it apart from the early 90s rap which was great but the 80s artists disappeared far too quickly having only been around for 5 yrs at the most whereas todays 'rappers' we can't seem to get rid of and are still hanging around like a bad stink.

Jay-Z did not want to be like Dana Dane. Dana Dane originally didn't even have a british accents when he started rappin. He became famous with the accent because his Kango Krew member from Music and Art High School name MC Ricky D better known today as Slick Rick got caught up in some legal trouble at the time. Rick was out at the same time with "The Show" and "La Di Dada Di" in 1985. The Jaz or now known as Jaz-O mentored Jay-Z because Jaz had the record deal first but Jay-Z was rappin in the 1980's as well.
