LOVE YOU DADDY

Douglas James Bingham triumphantly returned to the open arms of his Heavenly Father on November 24, 2021 at the age of 73. Although his departure was sudden and premature, he was surrounded by everything that mattered to him in this life, and in the raging tempest of uncertainty, there was great peace. Douglas was born on May 12, 1948 to Paul James Bingham and Maxine Briggs. He married his closest friend and eternal companion for time and all eternity on April 21, 1977. Douglas was a graduate of Brigham Young University and received his Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He served the country he loved with all his heart as a member of the National Guard for 12 years. He lived a selfless life dedicated to his wife and five children. He worked hard to provide for his family and to ensure they never went without while taking no thought for himself. As a man of international business who traveled the world visiting more than 50 countries, he ignited a passion for world travel in his family, always sharing his adventures through souvenirs and bedtime stories. Often referred to as “Disneyland Dad” he went above and beyond to make every moment and every occasion something spectacular, turning the mundane into magic.
He was a man of God who went about doing good. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Finland. A place he spoke of often and fondly, and a people he deeply loved. As a true disciple of Jesus Christ and the embodiment of Christlike living he was filled with charity, hope, love, and kindness. This could be felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He looked at others the way our Heavenly Father sees us and felt a deep love for complete strangers before ever learning their name. He saw the world through rose-colored glasses and could only find the good in everyone. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and was the ultimate cheerleader and champion of the underdog.
Just days into their marriage he and his new bride sat on the footsteps of the St George temple and drafted a family constitution with all the hopes and desires for their future life together. Serving a mission with his forever sweetheart was one of the desires he most looked forward to and talked about often. He was fortunate enough to serve two distinctively unique missions over what would ultimately be the final two years of his life, beginning in Kyiv, Ukraine and finishing at the Nauvoo Historic Sites mission, before returning with honor just prior to his passing. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the gospel was central to every decision he made. He lived every day with an eternal perspective and although gone from this life we know he is reunited with his Savior Jesus Christ, saving seats at the celestial table for his eternal family where he did all he could to ensure there will be no empty chairs.
He is survived by his sister Rochelle, wife Jolene, five kids Branden (Mindy) ‪@thisishowwebingham‬ , Sean ‪@SeanBingham‬ , Justin (Lindsay) ‪@OurLifeInHolland‬ , Jared (Brittany) ‪@JaredandBritt‬ , and Michelle (Daniel), as well as his nine grandkids and many more who he considered family and treated like nothing less.
