Growing a beard has made a incredible difference in my life. I am 52, I had a off and on goatee for about 5 years. I never used any product on my goatee ever. I always used the same soap for my face, body an hair when I could get away with it. Late July 2020 I decided to grow a beard. This time I did my research and not only am I treating my beard but I am also trying to use the best face, head hair, and body products I can. Thank you Dan for everything you do for us on KZbin. Your videos are my main go to videos when I need help. .

Im with Collin on this one!!!!! Omg my skin was crawling just watching you have to put this “stuff” in your beard brotha- On a positive note to this video, you absolutely nailed being professional, courteous, and honest better than anyone else could have to this company, now if they so choose to “correct” their shortfalls, it is 100% up to them and man hopefully they hear and react in a just as positive manner and come back with something you love!!!

My beard has changed me in a positive way as I now shower everyday. I care how I look. I drink mostly water and less coffee which means less sugar. I go outside so me beard can see and feel the sun. I care more about what I eat. Great video. I agree that this company just doesn't know enough yet about beards. Their butter looks like lotion because it has much the same ingredients as lotion. Lotion main ingredient is water I believe.

Great video, Dan. Good to see negative reviews given in a professional, respectful manner. Hats off to you, sir! I, too, care a great deal about what goes in my beard via ingredients. And as you postulated, it has impacted other aspects of my life. I am FAR more positive overall and I have become much better about working out and being healthier in general. There was a mental shift from “looking good” to “being healthy”. The latter has made all the difference. As always, thank you for who you are and what you bring to all us beardos! Dan, thanks for all the education that you bring to this community. Before my beard, I probably wouldn’t have batted an eye at using any product with ingredients like this. Since growing the beard, I’ve tried to become more aware of what I’m putting on and in my body. It’s amazing how many chemicals we ingest every day that we were never meant to, because companies put them in as filler, preservative, etc. I’ve tried to eliminate a lot of that from my other body products and food. Thanks for taking one for the team with these particular products and for the no nonsense positivity you bring to every review.

Your the man taking one for the team! I started with some bad products and then found out what good ones really do for you. Since then because of being conscience of what I'm using and doing to take care of my beard. I'm drinking more water, taking better vitamins, reading more labels of things before buying them I've found natural bar soaps that don't dry my skin out like store bought ones would. Cold water rinsing has helped with dry skin after showering and leaves me more refreshed. I overall feel better, more confident and positive about myself. Knowing I'm doing good things for me and putting time back into myself during this busy life.

Ok... so I've been commenting a lot lately. Just discovered this channel a few days ago and have been binge watching it all, and there are so many helpful tips and knowledge, so thank you, Dan. I love that his wife gets involved and really thank you, Sam, for putting up with the smells, the stickiness, and everything that goes into supporting your man, your family, and this community. To answer the question of what treating and caring for my beard means? It's my championship trophy. It's my victory. My freedom, my touchdown dance... after years in the military any years fighting obesity and depression and life in general, I am caring for myself better now than I ever have. I dropped weight from close to 400 lb to 200 lb. I eat better, drink more water, take essential vitamins, work out (that one was a shocker to me, because I always hated that) I am in my peak physical condition at 42 years old than I ever had at 18-19. Now is my beard perfect? FUCK NO. I honestly have been considering to shave it off, but just the positivity and knowledge that the Trusted Teacher provides gives me hope. I can FUCKING DO THIS. So, thank you Dan. To you and your family. This community and everything in between. I have a new lease on life, and I am gonna do it being bearded and positive. One note I don't know if Dan covered this, weight gain, and hair loss. I'll look. But everything else... thank you. I plan to commit until my birthday (January 20th) and then I will get back to you. Thanks Dan. You don't need to have a crown to be king... but you do need a beard... and that's why you exist for us.

Linalool and limonene are naturally occurring allergens in essential oils (there's a few others too) that need to be displayed on labels in EU. Any company who uses essential oils in their products will have it present. It's not bad you as long as they're under certain levels and you're not allergic to them.

Then moved on to beard oil then natural deoderant. From there got into beard butters and now im more hygienic. Been taking care if my teeth more and i feel like a million bucks. It made me take vitamins and has been a daily routine ever since. Some people dont understand they think im getting carried away but i know how i feel compaired to how i felt. Nice video man. After owning Bloombeards for the last 4 years i would agree with you that many barber based companies have jumped on the beard band wagon as a wag to make money with little to no experience in products for beard health. Its really sad to see. I had a very similar experience with a very popular pomade/ hair care company. I wont name names even though i want to to keep people from wasting their money. Silicone in their beard oil ( which also leaked feom the bottle) which made it super slippery and coating... the feeling was AWFUL!!! Within 3 days i developed terrible beard dandruff. Came back to trg this again like a month later to be fair and same result. The problem is their marketing, hair care following, and branding was really good but they had no business making beard care products. Tastefully sone in your video. Hopefully they make some changes to put out a quality product or just stick to the hair care industry that they know.

When I saw the beard butter the first thing to come to mind was cold-cream. I have beard oil at home. After watching this I will use em till their gone, but, I will not be buying them again. You got me looking up ingredients and now I can see that these won't be good for me in the long run. They have Silicone in one and the other has a chemical that is banned in California as a possible carcinogen. I don't think one bottle is going to kill me. I hate wasting money so I will use them until their gone, however I will spring for "Every Man Jack" products from here on in. You gave it a good review, it's fairly available here through Walmart. The only downside is that here in Canada we get "Country Pricing" which means the companies charge us more "just because". However a good product that I can be confident in using will be worth it.

Oh boy haha. Nice Video DanC! Sounds like the company had good intentions. What’s that saying? The road to Hell is paved with good intentions? It’s really unfortunate. There are a lot of companies doing this. Hair Care companies trying to jump on the beard product bandwagon. We’ve seen it in Suavecito, Old Spice, and now Agadir Men... and there are countless others. They may have nice hair products, but how do they not realize that hair care and beard care are completely different worlds? It’s just a lack of effort really. If they put in any time and effort in the research department, they would know! They would know that these ingredients they’re using are terrible for beards. It’s very frustrating. I literally CRINGED when you put the oil and butter in your beard. I very well may have said out loud “Don’t do it Dan! No!”. Haha. Props to you for going for it. That’s some dedication to the channel baby! Even willing to use stuff like this to help educate the Command Army and Beard Community. Some of the ingredients that stood out to me were Acrylates Copolymer. It’s used a lot in cosmetic products, it’s said to help with frizz and humidity, and is known to cause irritation to the skin. Another is PEG-100... I remember looking this up before and seeing that PEG compounds are linked to leukemia and other cancers. It goes on and on. So many compounds and emulsifiers, crap that you don’t want to use on your body, let alone your beard. When I first started growing a beard I did a ton of research, an hour here, an hour there, just looking up ingredients I saw in products form the grocery store. What I realized was that all the beard products you can get in big box stores are TERRIBLE. That’s why it’s so awesome that you are involved with that company you’re working with and going to get quality beard products in big box stores. It’s going to give first time beard product users a WAY better experience. A nice intro to the beard world. If you haven’t done the research, or don’t have the time to look up and read up on all sorts of ingredients commonly used in health/beauty/beard products... Just do this.... Read the ingredients, if you are reading ingredients that are impossible to pronounce (excluding companies that use Latin for oils) ingredients, that look man made, that look like chemicals... Just don’t use it. Majority of the time it’s not beneficial for your beard. Always do the google search. If you see something in a product that you don’t recognize, it’ll take 10 seconds to do a quick google search and see if it’s something you should be using. Or.... just message DanC! He’ll get back to you! Never just go off blind faith when a company says “All Natural”. Always do your due diligence! If you don’t, it’s as much your fault as the company making the product. I’m with you on combs. I can’t do the metal combs. It scares me. I would much rather use a Kent or Kent Style Comb, OxHorn Comb, or even Wood over Metal. It’s definitely cool though, love the bottle opener, that’s pretty slick. That beard brush is really, really cute. That consistency of the oil is all too familiar. I’ve used products before and been like “what is going on here?” When you emulsify in your hands it might dry up and disappear, or be all slimy and greasy. It just immediately has this fake, unnatural feel. You feel it in your bones. It’s just disgusting. It’s not just about caring about our beards. It’s about caring about ourselves. It’s about doing the best we can to take care of our vehicle. That’s what our body is. It’s our vehicle. The more we take care of it, the better it’s going to run, the longer it’s going to last, and the better it’s going to be, period. Self Care is Self Love. I love taking care of my Beard. Falling in love with taking care of my beard led to me falling in love with taking care of myself as a whole. My hair, my skin, my face etc... everything. Life is so short. Even if you do live until 80-100 years old... What kind of quality of life will you have? Well, you can have a much better quality of life if you take care of yourself leading up to old age. We’ve all seen those people. They are 60-70 years old and look like they’re 40-50. Some of it might be genetics, but a lot of it has to do with the fact that they took care and continue to take care of themselves. I’m not saying everyone out there has to do every little thing to live a long healthy life, but little things add up. I personally love my morning and nighttime routines. It’s like therapy. It’s like I’m stepping into my own spa. I take my time, and I enjoy it. I like knowing that I’m doing what I can to take care of myself. Of course, I have a soda every now and then. I’ll smoke a cigar and have a glass of scotch playing poker with the fellas. I’ll eat a 32oz Dry Aged Tomahawk Ribeye with loads of butter and garlic mashed potatoes.... But the majority of the time I take care of myself, so that when I do indulge in my vices, that I don’t feel guilty, and I know it’s all good. It doesn’t have to be a drastic, immediate change. Like I said before, the little things add up. Start by just drinking more water, then a gallon a day etc... Small changes lead to big changes. That’s why most people can’t change their diet. They make crazy drastic changes and it’s too much too fast. Slow and steady wins the race. Take that first step and the rest is history!

Do the community a favor and review Clubman Pinaud beard products. The "beard oil" has the consistency of honey but becomes a silicone coating when you start rubbing it. The "beard balm" is basically petroleum jelly. Beard conditioner is surprisingly decent.

Bull Dog's beard balm is exactly like that stuff. Lotion consistency, feels cold going on, makes your beard feel wet. I threw mine in the garbage after the first time I used it.

Chris, I completely agree. Everyman's beard butter isn't a great product in my opinion - at least based on consistency/feeling. However, their other stuff seems good to me (deodorant, face wash, beard oil), just in case you felt discouraged by the butter.

I have not tried EMJ products yet, but I hope to try soon. Their ingredients in the oil actually do not look bad. I have not looked at any other products yet

The ingredients you listed in the side edits are commonly used in store bought shampoos and conditioners (i.e. detergents) ... not what I want in my beard... potassium hydroxide is Lye .. used in the saponification of oils to make Liquid Soap. the ingredients in that brand mimic detergents and conditioning agents for head hair in store bought items... again, not stuff I want in my beard.
@DanCBearded3 жыл бұрын
Spot on! A few decent ones were sprinkled in the list to keep it honest and not leading people, whoever many are awful for your beard.

Question. Did they tell you that the wash was for beards. I just looked online and I can't see where it says for beards. Only men's hair and body.
@DanCBearded5 жыл бұрын
Very good question! It does not say specifically for beards. However, they sent it for a beard products review. I guess I understood it as the entire body & all hair
