Cannot stop looking at this Vid,I am in Awe at these terrific dancers,a credit to the Appalachian stye of dance,this is not flavour of the month, this will continue for decades to come,I am from the UK England,Suffolk, 75 years young,been teaching my self this way of dancing, through Vids on UTUBE, Just love Appalachian music and dance, they don't have compertions here,think I am probably the only one in Suffolk that does it,keeping the tradition alive. Kind regards to you all Dave

I read someplace that because of the remoteness of Appalachia they were able to keep the culture they brought with them pure

The thing about the percussive dances is you have to have a musician's ear, you are literally the percussion of the music. Pay attention with your ears the most. You are literally a drummer with the feet.

I love this soooo much, I'm a 4th generation Irish Australian. With no culture whatsoever!! We didn't dance, except to the tune of others!!! This is such a beautiful thing to see, what happened here to make us all so.... European 😭 Love these videos, long time watch, first time comment! Love from Tasmania ❤️

lol that's why your music is so good, you have no culture so you put all your heart and soul in the music and dancing. A lot of these people can't even read.
@oldjoeclarke.2 ай бұрын
@@illegalsmirf What! "you have no culture so you put all your heart and soul in the music and dancing" Music and dance is culture and has been for so many thousands of years. "A lot of these people can't even read" wow! what an arrogant thing to say.

You can feel the cultivated fields, the mountains, the forests. Also that pride, dignity and that love for freedom that characterizes them. The best nation, the best people. People with music in their soul. People who can grow corn and can also reach the moon. Wonderful! They are the envy of the rest of the world. What surprises me is because they don't have love for theirs? Today almost everyone wants to be. Socialists. Blacks Natives . And be on your knees in front of those who don't love them. I honestly don't get it.

Jaime my dear, there are millions of us. We "don't count" because we don't live in the big cities, so "they" forget about us. What they do not realize is that we feed them. And the day will come...when we don't. But we will still be here when they are long gone. Let them dream of nonsense and one day they will come to realize that socialism is merely empty promises. That is something that we "forgotten" "don't count" people know all too well. Never fear, we will still be here when "they" are long gone.

I enjoyed the music and dance competition, but I'd like to know who won. (The video of last year's competition identified the winners by name and the "time" of their appearance in the video. This was in text beneath the CinemaScopeXXX avatar.) Was there a 12th Annual competition this year "pre-COVID-19" and is there a video of it?
