I am so glad that I found this absolutely beautiful performance....it is exquisite! I've watched it over and over with tears and never tire seeing it! It is perfection!!! The emotions that both Slavik and Katrina have are so moving and loving. It touches my heart. I love everything about this and I only wish that there was more. When this man dances it is a ballet pas de deux. It is figure skating on ice. It is ballroom! It is love-making on the floor. It is EVERYTHING! Hi Lizzette. I cant tell you how many times I've watched this routine danced and in my opinion it's the benchmark of how to evoke emotion through dance. It's been some 15 years now since they first put this routine on the dance floor and it's still leaving audiences spellbound all over the world. you know when something is created that's truly unique, beautiful and very special when it can withstand the test of time.

Because they are the most sincere, most talented and dedicated International ballroom dancers I have found. Their emotions at the end when they are hugging each other nearly crying are so absolutely sincere. And if they somehow are not sincere, then this is the greatest artistry on the ballroom dance floor. This kind of emotional truthfulness in his dance partnerships is unique to Slavik and constitutes the biggest part of his charisma. His dance actually touches the viewer emotionally, not to mention technique, sense of taste in choreography, general aesthetics, etc. Well, I lost count of how many times I've seen this routine since 2003. In a way it's a pity they have ended their partnership. On the other hand, we wouldn't have witnessed those equally amazing partnerships with Elena and Anna if it had happened otherwise...

+Peter Chen In some sense I agree with you regarding Elena. However, it was a truly beautiful couple: a masculine handsome male dancer and a very pretty female dancer. For me their rumba "Les Feuilles Mortes" is on a par with "Cuando Te Besso" and "Always on my Mind". And, they produced perhaps the best cha cha ever - "Summertime".

Dance Affectionist. agree with all you have said. These two dance from some very special place and they create dance magic. Not enough is said how this beautiful, powerful and emotive this piece of music is and how much it contributes to enhancing this performance. Having said that even the best music is useless if you don't know what to do with it. No one I've seen uses music quite the way these two can.

H..C So, you think timing is the secret behind the beauty of this unique rumba. I thought it had everything to do with dancers who can dance from the depth of their soul and not just with their body and feet. What makes dancing beautiful is artistry, not timing or technique, although they are the foundations, but not the beauty. When you fully grasp that concept you will understand what true dance is really about and its not what you see out in competition which is all you seem to understand.

+tehsiu wu Their history as a couple, as Danimie1 mentioned, is a big reason and also they had not danced together in at least 10-12 yrs. I was there and am so fortunate to have seen this live because they have always been my favorite and I had only started appreciating latin/ballroom dance in the last 5 yrs, so in my mind I was positive I would never see them perform together. When they announced they would be @ Dance Legends, I grabbed a ticket as soon as I could. It was the most magical night because of them. The other reason they were crying was because the whole crowd was rooting for them and was so emotionally involved with their performance. Even though all of the other performers were great that night...EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE was waiting for Slavik & Karina to come out. The whole place was cheering and so happy and appreciative....and Slavik & Karina could feel the love coming back to them. :) I can't wait to see them next year for Dance Legends 2016!
