Lilybet1975 Mells nia isnt that good of a dancer. She is from the start and only Africa american girl ( expect cameron ) that is why she stayed and they didn't replaced her. Also in first season it wasn't staged like this. 1 season they went to competition and until Maddie left they went to real competition but just danced off film. That is why sometimes girls massed on record but still were placed high

I went to a comp with them and I saw a lot of things that made me change my opinion about the show. i saw the producers making Maddie (who I was up against) show attitude to Chloe backstage. After they filmed that scene, they both talked normally and were laughing about something. The dances were fake too. I remember waiting ages because they had to make Maddie re-do her dance so it would be perfect. Just a heads up, because it’s fake doesn’t mean Abby wasn’t rude, she was actually worse off camera. I literally saw it. It kinda ruined my obsession with dance moms. Maddie isn’t Abby’s fav either, once again that’s a set up as well as most things that happen. But Abby is really mean to the mums anyway

Okay the later competitions may have been fake but in the first season for sure and second and maybe third bc my dance studio went to multiple competitions and the ALDC was there. One example was we went to the competition where Maddie performed her “reflections” solo

I’m sure if you went into the results you could find the competition. I believe it was like 2011-2012 nationals. Not sure which year exactly cause it was so long ago.

I have competed with dance moms before and my studio had to be invited to complete at it. I don’t know if anyone one remembers this but they always said they lost when they went to Fresno California but it was because my studio ended up beating them (slight brag sorry) so yes maybe they do change the scores for drama also they would set off about an hour or two to film the solos alone and made everyone else backstage wait until they were done to continue the competition and the crowds cheering is staged the directors counted down and made us cheer for them so they could film it there’s so much more but highly doubt anyone will see this comment

I can agree with this. I was a competitive dancer myself. My studio competed in the same competition with Dance Moms in Lancaster, PA. It was the second season. My dance friends & I went around the hallway asking other dance studios if they saw any Dance Moms performances. Everyone kept saying they performed before all of the other dance studios entered the competition building. During awards, only a select few dance studios were picked to be on stage with the Dance Mom girls.

i read somwhere that the “fake” competitions were actually invitationals so dance studios around the area of the comp that week were invited i think and that’s how they could still film everything and stuff without breaking child labor laws.

i actually live in pennsylvania and we’d go up against their studio sometimes and i can 100% vouch that the competition were rigged. abby’s team always had their own dressing room and private sections but in reality their would be like twenty other studios shoved into one gym. they always sat in the front and i remember there were body guards who pushed all the dancers to the back of the stage just to make room for them during awards. when going against them, it really didn’t feel like a competition at all it felt like you were extras in a tv show because of the camera crew and equipment everywhere

I tried warning ppl from the start that DMs was fake, the competitions rigged, that Abby was a shrieking, shifty beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyatch & the drama was all done with editing & I cannot tell you how many mountains of crap the Maddiebots buried me under, telling me that the things I had experienced firsthand were "fake." I had been at some of the "competitions" from seasons 1-4, including most of the ones in NJ, & saw it with my own eyes (the several takes fused to look like a single, "winning" dance, 2 different awards ceremonies, the nasty & racist comments made about fans/other dancers by the "queen bee" & her newfound bff), yet nobody wanted to see/hear what I had to say. I can only hope that now that some of the girls & moms are coming out to explain the very same things that I did, ppl will be more discerning of the garbage "reality" TV shows they watch & understand that 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of the drama on these shows are done with scripting & editing.

In the early beginnings it was not fake when brook and page were there and it wasn't fake after they left either, it was semi fake only towards the end and they were still judged, they may have not been on a major dance competition because of the child labor laws, but dance moms still made there own and invited teams to join. If they were completely fake towards the end then the moms would of not been so mad and left the show and did not talk to Abby because she did not give their daughter a feature. Some of the moms and kids still don't talk to Abby because of that, if it was completely fake it wouldn't matter.

I know it’s been a while since this was posted but I’m going to clear some stuff up for people. 1) During the original cast reunion in 2020 I think Holly said that she was never handed a script but Jill did say that they had to fake a little bit. 2) The pyramid was in fact set up by the producers and was never there before the show but Abby has always favored Maddie. 3) Despite the bad moments between the moms, Christi said on her KZbin channel that there were more good moments than bad and that they actually don’t hate each other. 4) Chloe also confirmed in a Q&A that Abby made fun of her eye but the audio was edited out and covered up. She also said, in the same video, that she left because the contract said things like you can’t gain or lose more than 5-10 pounds.

When Kelly had the big fight with Abby and left with Brooke and Paige, the producers allowed her to leave because the contract was coming to an end, under the condition that none of the girls talk to her because she still technically broke the contract. As for Christi, the contract was up, and at that point, she could officially leave. So, she did. Not sure what happened after season 4, though...

My daughter's former studio was invited to compete against the Dance Mom girls a few times. It is all set up. They take time in between dances to film the fights going on in the dressing rooms. They met Abbey at a mall and she needed a ride to her car. She was really nice. She talked about how the producers wanted her cut one of the dancers because she was giving them a hard time and she told them no. It's all fake.

Let me address a few things: Not all the competitions are fake. My studio competed against them in season 8 episode 6. From what I saw when my studio competed against them, they performed the group dance twice. The first time was pretty good, but they didn’t record it. The second time they made a bunch of mistakes and it’s a little too coincidental that they only made mistakes while recording the second time... They lied about the awards. On the show, they said that the widow group dance scored 4th, but for the actual awards, they scored 2nd place.

Dude. Dance competitions have been banning the show from participating in their competition circuts since season 1. They wrongfully portray the dance competition world, and those of us who were/are competition dancers know that the show has never really been accurate to how this stuff works. Seriously the only studio ive ever heard of that creates new dances every week in order to compete that weekend is this show ✋😂 dude the rest of us learn a few dances and take those same ones to as many different competitions as we choose, and then take those same dances to their nationals if we choose too. Seriously who learns a new dance every week just to go to a "new" competition?? I would like to know. 👌

i have ‘competed’ against dance moms. we got invites from the comp company that they were going to ie “Starpower” or “Believe.” the only dances we were allowed to do were small groups in he same age range as the girls. we were also allowed to do solos if we were their age. i have proof of all of this if anyone wants it. message me on instagram @elliewiedow. i have pictures of the girls, and you can see me back stage on one of the episodes (s4 e25). me and my teammates were waiting to do our solos in the wing. this was one of the episodes where there were the two teams. most of the girls were really nice, but a few were snobby. My mom’s best friends daughter used to be huge in dance. She went to a competition that the ALDC was at and she said it was totally rigged. She said that Maddie was truly amazing but a lot of the other girls weren’t. And one of the ALDC dance members (I think it was Kendal, I couldn’t say for sure) won a prize and there were other dancers that were WAY better than her.

I have competed against ALDC twice, the scores were changed for the recording of it all and the real scores had to be announced off camera. Not to mention that the ALDC got a whole dressing room to themselves while everyone was held underneath the stage for the whole day, we were unable to leave or see or contact anyone. So many kids hit they’re heads in pipes while down there and many had asthma attacks, it’s clear that the producers of Dance Moms only want good ratings and money
