The audience is filled with fans and all of them would be eager to participate no matter the consequences. The original idea was probably to dump things on Maddie or Mckenzie's head but they didn't want to so the producer's plan B was to choose a random person from the audience in their place.

Her parents were definitely gonna be pissed about this. Almost none of the kids in this audience had a guardian with them. I'd never let my kid raise their hand for this if we didn't prepare for it in advance.... most of them traveled from far away for it and were probably planning on doing other stuff in the city that day and now she's covered in ranch and ketchup? If they don't have their hotel anymore that's such a nightmare.
