I happily retired from a teaching position of 25 years to lead what would become a somewhat unconventional life. Have there been bumps on the road? Absolutely! Years ago, we consciously went on a reality tv show that is not scripted, but heavily produced and edited. My number one priority has always been to support, defend and stand behind my daughter. The win isn’t what is important in my mind, the process and learning that comes from it is. I have NEVER set an ultimatum for my child in this setting... instead I’ve emphasized being a gracious human being at all costs. Anyone who has met @ellianawalmsley_ in person or seen how she acts even during times of disappointment knows this to be true. Her father and I believe in supporting her journey and keeping her grounded and surrounded by positivity where she can grow, develop and be all that she can be. "

Wow. I competed in dance for years and my mom was exactly like this. It turned an outlet that I loved so much into something I hated.
