Say what you want about Ser Criston, but he's a great battle commander, tactician and warrior. He's taken down multiple castles without dragons, tripled the size of army, travelled discreetly without being sighted by scouts ( evaded Baela) and he set a trap for the Blacks they fell straight into, taking out arguably their best dragon and an experienced rider. Cole's one of the few knights whose actually seen battle in a time of peace - and he's becoming a big obstacle for Rhaenyra and her Council.

And his speech was fantastic as a tactic and PR move: instead of panicking about Aegon's sudden arrival, he uses it to boost the moral of his men AND Aegon's legitimacy as a king who doesn't just sit on a throne but risks his life to fight for and protect his soldiers. Criston is an asshole but he gets shit done!

I think that what Alicent says is very rational. In the recent episode, it was mentioned that the reasons for wars are most of the time eventually forgotten. Both Rhaenyra's and Aegon's sides will just justify their own cause. Additionally, it is very possible that Aegon would have become king after Viserys' death regardless, even if Alicent had not misunderstood him (that is why "his intentions died with him")

I think she knew she was on a kamikaze mission. She was the one til now saying never send in the dragons because it’s a nuclear option. She decided that’s the only option left and took it upon herself to do this showing Rhaenyra this is what they have to do. I love the exchanged look of Meleys and her knowing it was the end and thanks for all the memories type of look. I guess Aegon shouldn’t have humiliated Aemond last episode. I feel that he’s still alive but in bad shape because they would’ve shown him dead. Sad to see her and her dragon go. It was truly heartbreaking....

The guilt from Daemon's words about how she could've prevented this just added up. Seeing Meleys in battle, though, she had a damn good chance, she made Vhagar go down once. She just needed one more dragon to distract her.

I think you are misunderstanding what Alicent really means when speaking to Larys. She is saying that at the end of the day, a war will be fought either way, and would have been fought even without her saying the king changed his mind. You will probably pick up on that in episode 9 of your rewatch.

Bro please change the thumbnails, everyone had put on the same Thumbnail of rehneys and I too saw these and thought the she's going to die this episode. You saw those images beforehand aswell yet still put the same Thumbnail. Every reactor does this and it's soo frustrating, last episode, each reactor had put on rehneyra dressed up as the septa and spoiled that for a bunch of people too.

@@christinestreeter8566 or maybe just don't put spoilery thumbnails, it's not that difficult. I'm pretty sure you can find other frames from the episode. Also this wasn't the channel that spoiled it, it was reel rejects and they post reactions literally a few hours after the episode aired and they had used the same Thumbnail. And mind you this channel has also done the same for previous episodes and a bunch of other shows that were airing live. Not everyone has the convenience of watching the show live, especially since people all around the world are watching this show and it's different time zones. So don't tell me to stay off the internet when it should be the creators job not to spoil it for the viewers. I don't go actively on Twitter to look for spoilers before watching the episode, I opened KZbin and these sorta videos are the first one to pop up on my feed.
