People said you can't do an Acapella instrumental! PENTATONIX: HOLD MY BEER! 🤣

This one really showcases Avi's operatic training in college (he was offered a position with the Los Angeles Opera just before he was recruited into PTX in 2011).

One of the best things they've done so far. They definitely deserved their grammy for this! Can you imagine how much time *editing* this took? It looks incredible, but the editor had to have been hopped up on espresso or cuban cafecito to keep up the pace! Loved your reaction to this one!

@@Davesmusicreactions Yes. The first was for "Daft Punk", second for ''Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy'' and 3rd for "Jolene" feat. Dolly Parton

@@Davesmusicreactions The Grammy for this and Daft Punk Medley were not for the performance or the video, but for Best Arrangement. Indeed, the category used to be only Best Arrangement Instrumental but was expanded to include A Capella to be able to award for Daft Punk. That's why the person who made the final arrangement, Ben Bram, was also included in the Grammy win. Not taking anything away from the performances and videos. Both are fabulous. Pentatonix has said the Daft Punk was incredibly complicated because of how interwoven the songs were. They have said that Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is the most difficult to sing because there are no words. For the Jolene Grammy, it went to Dolly Parton and Pentatonix foe Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

Keep in mind this is an instrumental piece, there are no words for singers to sing. Mind blowing. In this piece, each member sung their own parts individually in a sound studio, then faked singing it for the video. And then the whole thing was edited together into what we just saw. The amount of work to get this just right, vocally and in motion, truly boggles the mind. As other have said, they got a Grammy for this.

I wonder what Tchaikovsky would have thought of PTX's version? and they won a Grammy for it.
@deejay1363 жыл бұрын
Good question 🤔. I'm guessing he would be blown away with the fact that his music is still played so many years later but hearing PTX's version would be an added bonus.

I love it when reactors do this one! How many vocal groups acapella the crap out of an instrumental song?? Lol! I'll watch anything you react to by them. I know you've done a few already, but off the top of my head.. Can't hold Us (cover) Coffee in Bed (an original) Gold (cover) Imagine and Mad World (I can't remember if you already did these, but I don't think so?) And I know it's not Christmas, but they have SO many awesome Christmas tracks! 12 Days of Christmas is a blast! And I don't think you've seen their cover of The Weeknd's Blinding Lights (which is awesome) or their 90's Dance Medley (which is FIRE). Thanks for the reaction! You guys are always entertaining. I could just picture you both in tutus for the thumbnail for this Lol! 😆

Always great to share some PTX time with you guys! This is one of my faves. You can really feel Avi's classical influence here, plus his rich 'basso profundo' gets to shine. Not many pop groups would consider taking on Tchaikovsky! You've done so many terrific PTX reactions, I'd love to hear what you think of their vocal acrobatics in "Gold," the Kiiara cover.

Love your reactions always entertaining. Some others you might enjoy covers Imagine, No, Can't Hold Us, Problem, Gold, Say Something, Can't Help Falling in Love. Originals Sing, Can't Sleep Love, Cracked, Love Again, Light in the Hallway, Standing By. Another fun thing is their performances on season 3 of The Sing Off that is the very beginning they met in person for the first time the day before the auditions.
