Hi John , Like most Level 42 fans , think! , this could be one of their favourites as along with " Dance One Heavy Weather " - " The Chant Has Begun " along with the former "Coup d'état" a is song that for me is a better combination of what Level 42 could talk about within there songs... As they started to move away from what Phil & Boon were happy to go they still contiued to bring up the problems of this world with songs reminiscent of " Dance On Heavy Weather " by reminding fans that they could & would still make statement songs like " Coup d'état " which was in one of there best albums at that time yet credit to them for still writing songs that weren't just user friendly 80s pop songs Level 42 were never going to the UK equivalent of the band UB40 as Level 42 could make statements as good as any of the solo acts & bands that wrote songs about this troubled world we live but they preferred to play a lttle bit of everything when they could , which many of those who would make counter statements saying Mark King is just a show off & they only write break up songs yet if they actually listened to their albums you could hear that the events of modern life & the bad that happens was still something they could sing about without it sounding out of place with their more known songs... Another great cover my friend & your JD Supernatural Series I Bass Guitar just makes yiu want to play those notes & songs that Mark played his bass lines over their songs... Well the weekend its just round the corner & i think you said you live not far from the beach & with good weather expected in most European Countries i kindly & respectfully hope you decide to just spend some family time & relax... As much as your viewers & listeners wont like what i have to say but may i suggest that you give yourself a little break from doing cover songs over the summer & just relax with your loved one's & look after your health... I know your fan will still be there as its that our adage of " Absence makes the heart grow fonder " & you deserve a rest & break just like everyone else has over the summer period but thats just my , with respect , opinion... Wishing You/Your Loved One's/Family Members & Friends All The Best Over This Coming Weekend & take some time out to just chill out & relax , as you deserve it... As Always You All Take Care My Friend & All The Best... Slàinte Mhath aka " Good Health/Cheers " .....

Hi Paul, I really like the sound of the JayDee on the Standing In The Light album. I just was practacing 'the machine stops'. It is the last track of the album. Also a great Bass sound with a clear and boosted mid frequencies. It is actually very simple. The tone control on the JayDee is very sensitive. If you boost the mid and turn back the Bass en High pot, you have that sound. You can tweak a litle bit with the EQ. For some reason I never hear that kind of sound out of an JayDee on KZbin. Everybody uses aa very bright sound with a lot's of high. Anyway...... This weekend it is MotoGP in the Netherlands, TT-Assen. I have a Race bike and go on sunday to the races. It is a pretty long drive 500KM round trip. But looking forward to that. The weather is cloudy with some showers and hoop for more sun next weekend. I wish you and your loved ones a great weekend!

So much inventiveness in this song. John, that was well played, killer Jaydee tone and you absolutely nailed the middle section at 1:40. Also love those plucked fifths and bent harmonics. How long did it take you to get the middle section down? Sounds intense on the record and looks hard to play. More from Standing in the Light, please!

Hi Miles, the middle section is hard to play, but it is just a matter of practicing. The last few months I play a lot, so that's helps. The harmonics I didn't noticed the previous last 40 years. But they are really there. I recorded ''The Machine Stops' and also '"Standing in the Light'". I just try to figure out the guitar parts. But there is really a lot going on! Boon did really an awesome job. On friday I upload Jupiter from EWF and a week later the Machine Stops. Just recorded the bass part of Standing in the Light. The tone of the JayDee is really great! Stay tuned! All the best!!!!

Very very good, tons of energy, and you really made the bass sing in that short middle part with the cool bends. Awesome cover!

Thanks Lars, I am using a very light gauge strings, which makes it very easy to bend and have this kind of sound -- rotosound.com/product/fm66/
