bahahaha omg 😂😂 I’m mostly a Jazz, modern, and ballet dancer. This is so true for most types of dance. I lost it watching this. Pretty sure people around me thought I was nuts. 🤣

AnTeBe That's what I thought, that both Latin and standard/modern are part of ballroom. But I see more people referring to the latter as ballroom. Can someone please explain 😅

@@maomao_nini_donteatgrass The world "Ballroom" means two things, or better said is used in two ways: A) To point out in general the styles Ballroom (a.k.a. Standard) PLUS Latin. This is mainly used outside the dancing world and used as an inclusive word for naming the two styles wich you can dance and can be offered in dancing schools and dance institutions. And it is also the general naming of the competitive dancesport world (here after named "dancesportworld"). For example, a journalist could ask another journalist: "Have you seen that item about that Ballroom couple?". Or a big dance dancing school can advertise with lessons in Salsa, Merengue, Milonga, Street Dance, Ballroom, etc. So the two styles together AND our dancesportworld in general is named "Ballroom", but almost exclusively by outside parties and/or maybe (dancelesson) institutions. Furthermore the word sometimes comes through in naming dance festivals, f.i. Chicago Open Ballroom Championships. Wich still mostly 100% of the times means that such an competition covers both styles. B)WITHIN our core danceSPORTworld by the word "Ballroom" we mean solely the Standard dances (or "Modern"). So among dancers, teachers, organisers, coaches, officials, spectators and ANYONE else heavily involved in the dancesportworld we speak about Ballroom and Latin, as of the two distinctive styles. For instance, i can say "I now practice Ballroom, but tonight i'm up for Latin." Besides that, in the dancesportworld we equally use the words Standard and Latin to point out both styles. The part where the PROFESSIONAL lowers his music, and APOLOGIES! YES! THIS! I practice capoeira and I have no problem sharing an open gym classroom with other fellow non-traditional 😉 gym members. However, I have had so many of my workouts ruined by dancers who selfishly BLAST their music on the class sound system. I wish the loud ‘amateurs’ could learn to be courteous.
