First of all, thank you! This was very helpful for me. Secondly though, my husband very passionately wants it noted that Kizomba is not a Latin American dance, but an Angolan one 🇦🇴☝️😄
@DanceDoctor4 жыл бұрын
Oooh because I am teaching Latin motion. 😅 I call it Latin motion because it’s what I use to teach people hip movement in salsa, but we use it in jazz, swing, and other dances that aren’t Latin. Also, even though the very first thing I learned about kizomba is that it is an Angolan dance, I learned it in Cuba so I think in my mind I group it in with Latin dances 😬 thank you for the reminder, I’m making another kizomba vídeo today and I’ll make sure to clarify that. Thanks for watching! I’m glad you loved it!

i have learnt Kizomba, Argetinian Tango and other Latin. i do see major influences of Argentian Tango and Kizomba.
@l.mendes5473 жыл бұрын
No I am sorry but that is beyond offensive that you are going to teach about Kizomba and call it Latin dance and just put them all together? That is like me teaching the Tango calling it African dance. These are actually cultural dances so by not distinguishing it correctly is a bit clueless and comes across like you are just unaware of the culture to begin with and are just putting all these dances together cause ohh well they are mixing the hips type of dances. anyways. If you are teaching something that is not of your own culture then you should take the time to learn correctly about the dance and just make a new video with the correct teaching.
@lauriobaptista72103 жыл бұрын
@@l.mendes547 if we're being honest most if not all of the Latin dances have African movements in them. The movement she was referring to is called the "cuban hip motion" which is present in most Latin dances. Granted Kizomba is an Angolan dance but we can't lie that it does share traits with the Latin dances or social dances (if we want to be correct)
@faithandfitness84613 жыл бұрын
@@lauriobaptista7210 No called it like it is. Latin have this tendency of taking our culture and making them their. Just like kuduro. I was dance kuduro this Latin lady told me I was doing it wrong; that it was weird the way I was dancing! I had to educated her on my culture that kuduro belong to us not Latin and now we have the same issue with kizomba w/. these people are already taking our dance out contest and make it sexual dance. This dance was a type of dance that a daughter and father could dance it together, now you can't even dance it with a friend... these people trying to teach kizomba looks like they are robot. It doesn't have none of that. It's not like ballet. This is fun dance that comes naturally. So ridicules!!!

Easy to follow lessons, with “step-by-step” detailed instructions starting with the most basic moves, gradually moving to combinations and ideas for more elaborate techniques when you are ready. Anyone who has done any kind of dancing - even Jazzercise - will find these steps familiar and easy (esp if you are like me & your dance experience goes back before disco in early 70s 😃🕺💃🏼). The hard work comes for those of us who haven’t danced or exercised much in the last “few” years - it’s work out time! Great companion to finding & working your abs for core strength and strengthening muscles, which leads to better posture and stronger (& more flexible) back muscles. I will prepare for these Kizomba lessons with my (gentle) Pilates and Yoga - Dancing to great music is my idea of a wonderful and motivating reward for taking care of my body.
