The audience is filled with fans and all of them would be eager to participate no matter the consequences. The original idea was probably to dump things on Maddie or Mckenzie's head but they didn't want to so the producer's plan B was to choose a random person from the audience in their place.

Her parents were definitely gonna be pissed about this. Almost none of the kids in this audience had a guardian with them.
