Very nice potential. I find Taiwanese dancers very talented, dedicated and hard working. Unfortunately, like most Taiwanese dancers, it's lack of basic Syllabus and that's the main reason why they don't have such a good results on International level, since there're many dancers in that beaitiful country. For dancers or competitors it's not enough just to take classes online or to have guest Western teachers who will show them just a few steps and pay them a lot of amount of the money for class (online or personal). They need to have a good dance teacher, who will work with them constantly. In this particular video, we can see basic movement with turn in a little bit wrong way. I'll try to explain with words shortly. When you stand in front (leading) leg and when your weight is on that leg, with hips and foot, you will bring up back leg and you hip from back leg will be opened as your back foot. When you want to make a turn, you need to put down your back hip with your back leg, who will give you the space to turn on other side, without an effort. In that turn, a rib will help you also to have a nice posture... I know it sounds ridiculous explaining with words, but tried to explain a bit how one Basic step should be danced. Keep fighting my beautiful Taiwanese 🙂

I know you said that action I called is reposition. So it's mean that when we finished our pendulum action our body weight already in the top of ball of the foot. so when we have to totate our hip we need to reposition our body weight back to middle of foot in order to easy rotate and collect the leg.

@@dancepassionsoul Hip-action does not have anything with reposition. And hip-action is based from your posture, which I don’t see in this video course, which also means, chest more forward, stomach back, sternum lifted, long neck and spine, shoulders down but arms needs to “float” (do not tense up arms), arms more rounded with tone, do not drop arm on side and hold tight. Settle hip, sqeeze/compress the side of standing leg, think about shoulder and hip meet in the middle. Settling action initiates the movement. Do not stop and wait for beat, take the time to complete the action, fill in music. When feet are not moving, spine, hips body are moving. Spine weight more forward and body is more stretched diagonally. This is just some parts of Syllabus techniques, just for a few steps 😊 But as I said in previous comment, it’s very nice potential and definitely, you are one very talented Nation who needs some guidance.

@@alfa7377 With all due respect, all that is besides the point of this video, which is more of a terminology explanation and also a brief explanation of some similarities/differences. I'm sure the teacher in the video is aware of those points you wrote, since they would have covered them in one or more of their many videos.

@@osof3tos Thank you for your comment. As you can read from my comment, I have said Taiwanese dancers, which means in general. Since I'm in this dance industry for 35 years, started as competitor than finished as dance teacher, I still think that Asian dancers are with great potentials but they are lack in basic Syllabus in every dance. The other thing, specially in Taiwan, us that Taiwanese dancers usually hire only a big names in dance industry with big price and most of the dancers can't afford it. Since Covid starts, Asian dancers are spending a lot of money on online tutoring which I'm finding very funny. I onky can conclude that, you need to be more flexibike about foreign dance teachers and not only a famous names are the best solution. I don't have that famous name, but my students are... The point is, I only commented on this particular video and pointed on flaws, when I see some other video, gladly I will comment it.

@@alfa7377 Thank you for the reply. I understand your point of view now. Indeed, it's important to have a proper foundation and strong basic knowledge. I think in general we are all moving towards that, but it will still take some time. I also agree with the big-name-big-price issue. In a way, I'm glad the teachers in these videos are sharing what they've learnt themselves openly, to make things more accessible. Physical teaching and training is still going to be much more beneficial, but if these online videos can even make one more student understand and be eager to go out and learn more, I think it's an overall plus. Once again, thank you for your time in replying!
