Jimin is like a living juxtaposition, he's so elegant and graceful when he's on stage and performing, and then in normal life, he's like falling off chairs and tripping over air. He also has a really cute habit of literally falling into the person next to him when he laughs loll

My husband said that it is because dancers and martial artists (which Jimin is both) are accustomed to moving fast and spinning but when they are in regular activities it takes more for them to do things slowly that it causes them to be clumsy. Jimin is so adorable and falls so much that the other members just laugh. I am sure Jimin has had enough practice falling 💜🤣🤗🇺🇲💜

I just started the video but Jimin did create the choreography himself! Some of the stuff in the video is improv because he's just feeling the music/ filling in the parts where it's not his part in the music video. Also this video only showed us a single rehearsal but this shoot actually went on for a whole day so he must've run through the dance dozens of times. No wonder he was knackered at the end haha. BTS are notorious for working hard and the other boys always say Jimin works the hardest because he's such a perfectionist 😅

There is a short performance of hip-hop dance that the 3J's (j-hope, Jimin, Jungkook) did to the Megan Thee Stallion remix of Butter. There is a behind scenes of the rehearsal / practice for it. They do it over and over again, for two days. And when they're totally exhausted, at the end, on the second day, is when it looks best. In BTS's variety series Run BTS, one episode (109) has BTS members trying dubbing dialogue to Disney animated films. Jimin seems to handle it best. Maybe because his dance and martial arts timing and spacial and environmental awareness skills allowed him to build a connection with the frames he's dubbing more quickly than the other members? Jimin seems to frequently play with where things - himself and other objects - are in space, and how gravity affects them - he lets himself get off balance and fall, he wears shoes that are too big or slippy, things like that. He role-plays objects, giving them little personalities and having them act out a tiny scene, which he sets up. There is footage of Jimin and V on a trip, in Finland I think, where V rides a horse, and Jimin follows on a bike, acting as if the bike is a horse. When V pulls his mount up and the horse begins to graze, Jimin brings his bike alongside and tips it, back wheel high, so the front wheel is nose to the ground, as if the bike is grazing, too.

I noticed that you love expressive/ emotional parts in choreography and hand movements. I would really love to see you break down Lie by Jimin! He composed, produced and wrote the song and while he didn't choreograph it fully himself, he did change it up to fit what he wanted for his song exactly and the story telling on that song blows me away every time. You can really tell Jimin *feels* that song so much. The pain in the movements is palpable. There's an MV for the song but it only shows about 5-10 seconds of dancing but God those seconds send chills down my spine. There's a dance practice for the MV filming available on KZbin as well as live performances (though some of them have bad camera angles and focus too much on the face instead of the movement so please let me know if you'd like to react/watch in your own time and I'll reply with links 😊). There's also the behind the scenes of the actual MV filming which has insane dancing as well but it's harder to find that on KZbin so I can link you to fans who have uploaded it on other websites instead. Thank you for the reaction and have a great day ♥️

To Lottie B's comment about Jimin's shoulder woes... I have a SLAP tear in one shoulder which was reinjured recently, and had a total dislocation of the other shoulder which took several years to heal, and thus don't have full functionality or range of motion with either shoulder. When you talked about Jimin wrapping his arms around himself as he was in that final collapse position, I felt what he was doing, because I do those things to try to rebalance the kinetics in my shoulders, Feldenkrais style. The thing that connected me with BTS was seeing the intelligence of Jimin's movement in the Boy With Luv MV. He has been my virtual physical therapist ever since. He teaches me how to approach moving safely yet strongly, and he epitomizes courage and stoicism.

I love your little insights ♥️ it's super enjoyable to watch. Your mention of Odette and Odile reminded me of the solo performance to this song that Jimin did during their MOTS online concert. He was playing a white swan in the VCRs and dancing in a more elegant, relaxed, ballet-esque (?) way in the white outfit and then for his solo performance in the black outfit it's suddenly more intense and emotive and less polished and more contemporary with less "perfect" lines. Which I thought was a cool play on both the original swan lake but also an ode to how contemporary was kind of branched off as a rebellion against ballet and the perfection needed for it. To me, the story he was telling in that concert kind of felt like the inner innocent part of him who fell in love with dance trying to break through the loss of passion caused by the perfection and rigidity the industry seeks. It was a really powerful performance and this is a really powerful song

I have being loving your deep dives into BTS songs and I was so happy when I saw that you reacted to Jimin's solo behind. About the neck and back pain, he has been having it approximately since 2017, sadly it's something he can't avoid. He even missed a interview in 2018 while being on tour and had to change the choreo for his song Serendipity because of it, and on the behind the scenes of their documentary he was talking to his physiotherapist and they mentioned it's a chronic pain. They never said the cause or exactly what is it, but it comes from time to time when he goes hard on choreos or performs a lot.The good thing is that they have an amazing medical team and that he now takes care a lot of himself and the members are always attentive. Thanks so much for your reaction and I can't wait to watch your next videos.

Love the video! I believe that Jimin has reoccurring neck/shoulder issues, he often seems to have tape on them and has had advice to keep still before a concert to keep the area rested and to be able to perform (I vaguely remember a concert where he was on stage but mostly sat on a chair and sang along while the others danced). In one of BTSs docs he is also getting treatment for his knees where the physical therapist (?) says that the issues won't stop if he doesn't stop performing

I think you'd enjoy it but the only problem is sometimes it can look a bit grainy. “Black Swan” is inspired by a quote: “A dancer dies twice. The first time is when he stops dancing and this first death is much more painful”. “Black swan” is about their fear that some day they’ll lose their passion for music and this would be their first death. ok, so... the song draws inspiration from both the ballet (Swan Lake) in it's choreo and imagery, but also draws a lot of inspiration from the movie "Black Swan", which in turn is heavily based on the Japanese anime film "Perfect Blue". Both movies break identity and deal (in a non-obvious way) with Carl Jung's theory of the self: Persona, Ego, Shadow. In these movies, a female performer spirals into insanity as increased pressures in her career cause her to lose grip of herself and reality. “Black Swan” tells the story of Nina, a passionate ballerina (Natalie Portman) who struggles to maintain her sanity while competing for the main role (the White Swan, Odette) in “Swan Lake.” Meanwhile, “Perfect Blue” follows Mima, a former (Japanese) pop idol whose sense of reality begins to waiver as she attempts to transition into a career as a serious actress. Both stories feature a female protagonist is put in highly stressful situations and that makes them question their identity and ultimately conjure up a doppelganger that messes with their psyche (persona, shadow and ego, basically clash). Just as Nina suffers from the pressures of being a ballerina, Mima is also forced to deal with the strict expectations of being a Japanese idol. Their personal conflicts also bleed into their professional lives causing them to spiral out of control. In Nina’s case, it comes in the form of her oppressive mother and in Mima’s situation, it’s an obsessive stalker fan. At the core of the film, both protagonists have a psychological battle with themselves that results in hallucinations that blurs the lines between fiction and reality. In the end, like I said, these films break the self and deal with themes like loss of passion and the heartbreak that come with working for your dreams. Black Swan (BTS), at its core, reflects these themes. I think that Perfect Blue can be chillingly on point for BTS, since they too are idols and experience some of the things that Mima experienced as an idol and continues to go through. BTS reflect the core concepts of these movies, identity, and conceptualise them to reflect their fear of losing their passion for music and, by extension, losing themselves. They portray people who are afraid that music is all there is to them and are afraid of losing themselves if they lose their passion. Oh boy, Jimin's dance haha he did train in ballet, albeit very minimally and as part of his main focus, which was contemporary and that's what he mostly trained for during high school. He is "professionally" trained in contemporary, hip-hop and idol dance. Even the members have said that Black Swan is Jimin's song, that he embodies the black swan. This is further highlighted in the 2020 MAMA version of Black Swan, where he does a duet with Jungkook!. Anygays, Jimin's dance style is unique and probably near impossible to replicate since its highly influenced by his 8+ years experience in martial arts + hiphop training. +idol training + his contemporary (and minimal ballet and Korean traditional) training. He does a lot of tricking and aerials as you could see with his medialuna (which I know is a very dangerous movement to do, because you can easily overrotate and injure your ankles) and with his movements here twitter.com/pjmgem/status/1466261374355402757?s=20&t=u_YLlw3YOrAu5eb2FaijzA and here twitter.com/jikookheart/status/1465173437589110788?s=20&t=u_YLlw3YOrAu5eb2FaijzA, during the live performance, where he basically does a one-handed cartwheel to cover more space. Black Swan is one of my favourite songs from BTS!

Here's info that some still aren't aware of: ❤️JIMIN, born October 13, 1995, at age 11, started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy. Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!! So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey! JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!! JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. Each dance move is executed flawlessly, his extensions all the way to the fingertips, his lines so clean, his fluidity, his poise & elegance, his ever so graceful moves, but yet, sharp, quick & deliberate when required! He focuses on every detail! Known for his work ethics and being a perfectionist to a fault, spending hours in the practice room, will study every move, even focusing on hands to fingertips. Even his facial expressions, or the look in his eyes! Every single detail he focuses on. Jimin tends to take in the music and interprets all the emotion & feelings, whatever it's trying to convey through his body movements as well as his vocals. JIMIN has now won the prestigious titles for 3 yrs in a row, for both KING OF KPOP, as well as also winning BEST TOP #1 DANCER IN KPOP, also 3 yrs in a row!! Jimin is also referred to as "Rookie's Bible" because all rookie idols, try to emulate & study every move he makes, trying to learn from him! Aside from all that Jimin has won other countless award, broken many records. His 5 solos have broken charting records worldwide, as well as being top seller, plus most listened to. Also breaking records for being #1 branding marketing idol, every single month for now, 3 yrs, a feat never achieved before, and still ongoing! The term the "Jimin Effect" is now in the Urban Dictionary! So much more as well but will stop here. I'll leave in the reply, links to some must see breathtaking spectacular solo perfromances of Jimin's that are not only safe to post & react to on YT, but the absolute best versions, as well as compilations that show Jimin's equally phenomenally amazing abilities, talent, skills, & athleticism.

Regarding camera choreography, the best shooting sketch is for the "Save Me," music video. Also, you will probably get a kick out of all the "ON" performances and shooting sketches. They are so used to being on camera. If you watch a lot of Bangtan Bombs, you will be amazed by all the things they do with a camera literally in their faces. They debuted 10 years ago and they were in training (and on camera) 1-3 years before that. There are examples of when they *have* overdone it, btw, in some of the movie documentaries and "hardships" KZbin compilations.

I may be wrong but in the part where you said it looked like he was taking a moment to think what he should be feeling was lined up with the lyrics in the song that basically said he was loosing his passion for dancing so it may have been intentional 💜
@lauto0613
@lauto0613 2 жыл бұрын
This!! I think also that some movements may have been intentional because of the lyrics and the fact that the he was not facing the public in the entire shot but is like he is dancing for himself, like trying to dance again but realizing that he can’t do it with the passion that he had anymore. But well this is what I thought when I watched the MV for the first time

I'm just in the middle, because I had to go back and rewatch him, you and the comments 🤭. Really, really interesting, I thank you so much. They had already filmed the whole group choreography, and he also played some of the shadows. I wish you see his solo dance for Lie... also in a Bangtan bomb. One day. Thank you for being so informative, fresh and funny at the same time 💜 P.S.: they particularly do have to think of their facial expressions on stage because they have cameras filming them and projecting them into a huge screen so all the audience can watch -and sometimes also those watching online transmissions, or the dvd sold after the tour-.

they're also performance artists...as in...they hold stellar concerts, hybrid for offline and online audience (at least lately) so there's that double duty of performing for the live audience AND the cameras at the same time.

Great commentary and agree with how you described how he flows from one move to the next. In some K-pop dancers they get that weird pacing of move then next move but they don’t flow together. He’s particularly good at that but also the rat of the BTS dance line flow moves from one to the next really well.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge about dancing. The details you described are fascinating. There are two members of BTS who have dancing background before joining the group, Jimin with his hip-hop/contemporary background and J-hope with his underground dance background. Since you've already reacted to Jimin's dance in this video, I'd love to hear your take on J-hope. You can check out "BTS Boy Meets Evil Comeback Trailer", where he dances to his solo song. And then, like others have suggested, the 3J's performance of the Megan's "Butter" remix is so much fun.

When you were talking about camera work, it made me think about BTS’ Save Me video, which was one take but the camera work was also “dancing” with the choreography. Another one with Aespa’s Black Mamba music video wherein a huge part of the impact to the dance is due to the angles in the video that the girls were seen as lacking in stage presence when they performed it live.

Jimin suffers from chronic back-neck pain, and knee pain, which is super sad, not because he pushes himself to injury, but rather because they're working all the time, I bet the pandemic was actually pretty healing for them, it was the rest they actually needed.

It will get blocked on KZbin if you react to it probably but his solo after black swan during the online concert ON:E was incredible. Jimin unfortunately has terrible chronic muscle pain in his shoulders and back :( he receives treatment for it because it’s debilitating sometimes (like he can’t even get up or move because the pain is SO bad) but it’s chronic so he can’t really do anything about it. He was told the only way to stop the pain is if he stops performing and dancing and his whole life and passion is dancing and performing so he just bears with it :(
