i've been a dancer for ten years now, and it's really interesting to see all the different rules and guidelines that different teachers have!! i don't dance competitively by any means, we just do classes for fun, and do exams in december, and then have an annual show in the summertime. my teacher is so laidback, we have so much banter and chat in class and i always look forward to going to her class, it's the best part of my day. of course we all maintain good etiquette throughout, but i always think that it's nice when you have a teacher who doesn't take themselves too seriously and is open to suggestion, and likes engaging with their students. loved the video, i've been a fan of your channel for ages and your videos are always so so inspiring! hope you're well
@theresegalenkatttant4 жыл бұрын
that goes well for adult students and students over 15. For kids though, it requires alot of discipline so not dome of them will spin into a cycle of just playing away the entire lesson, and that affects all the other students who are there really seriously. Afterall, their parents pay for their time there! Adults, however are more often there for the fun of it and would be very discouraged if things were too serious

Omg, Auti... 😣 Back early when I started dancing in a studio I used to like but unfortunately I didn't have any recommendations and... omg... I was SO disrespectful 😶 watching your tips just makes me be so ashamed of myself and sad after all I did in class and with my teacher (and believe it: I loved her, i admired her soooo much! But unfortunately I didn't showed it). I thing I already broke all these rules during my 2 years in that studio. Time to change! Time To apologize the studio and my teacher! Time To grow! Thank you for your help and honesty, I needed ❤

Those rules are so decieveing. While watching I think to myself "but that's just good manners" or "that's just common sense" and thought of them as obvious and that I abide by all of them. And yet, after watching entire video, I understood how much I needed that pointed out so clearly. Devil's in the details as they say. I noticed many things I didn't notice before. Thank you very much! :D Great channel by the way :)

Thanks, Miss Auti! Could I add one more dance etiquette which is really a pet peeve and extremely inconsiderate towards classmates - and that is STOP HOGGING THE MIRRORS during center!!! It's like we all are there to learn and move and dance, so sometimes I look at the mirror to also follow along when I can't remember what to do. It's just common courtesy to give that one step to the side for someone in the back to have a bit of mirror too. It's so sad when this happens and I've stopped going to many classes out of frustration. Oh yeah, some teachers should learn from this tutorial too, Miss Auti, because their being late is unprofessionally a no-no.

If you're old enough, why not offer to do odd jobs for neighbours (like mowing their lawn, or walking their dogs, or babysitting)? That's what allowed me to save up - I've been saving for only a few weeks and I plan to start classes very soon! Best of luck on your dance journey!

I would learn and practice at home and then see if you can get scholarship! Many dance studios award high performing students full scholarships, so you can demonstrate a need and dedication

If you are late, do not run to take a spot in front of the mirror Do not run in front of a better dancer (disciplined, has longer training, can hold their leg up, point their foot...especially if you can't do any of it). We learn from observation, and we do better when an enabled person is before us. Ask yourself if a person behind me can learn something from me. This does not apply to a class where the instructor assigns the space and/or the class is evened out as far as development)

I've been dancing my whole life, and etiquette sort of comes naturally to me now, so when a collegue said that she took her kid out of dance class because "they wanted her to have SPECIAL CLOTHES and her HAIR IN A CERTAIN WAY!!!???", I was chocked. Like... Of course you should have the right clothes and your hair in a way so that it's not in the way?! I told her that and she said "Yeah, but they were so strict about it!? So what if my kids doesn't have tight clothes for ballet class?" and I was like "BUT HOW IS THE TEACHER GOING TO SEE WHAT SHE NEEDS TO ADJUST IF YOUR DAUGHTER ONLY WEARS BAGGY CLOTHES?!?!?!?!".
@elifx87625 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you for making all the efforts towards to teach us ballet in different steps and through different ways :))) ! , But can you please answer one question maybe you did in the video but I kinda didn't get it or something I am sorry but, what should we wear on the first day of class because I live in Pakistan where ballet doesn't stand as one of the significant or fascinated thing for girls right here ik it's strange and not likely to be appreciate and that's because I don't have much knowledge about it i am soon going to be joining classes the one and only academy in here and it's underrated as well but dreams gotta be on their way to turn a reality:). Looking forward to your reply.

At my studio our phones sit with our water bottles so we can film our dances other than that we don’t touch them at all ALSO DON’T LOOK AT THE CLOCK. It makes your teachers think your not engaged and that you are waiting for class to be over.
