As far as classical technique goes anchoring your pinky finger isn't correct and depending on your finger length it can be impossible to play.On a steel string anchoring your pinky helps with accuracy in fingerstyle and flat picking. Tommy Emmanuel, Doyle Dykes, Thom Bresh and pretty much every other renowned fingerstyle guitarist anchors their little finger.
