Dancing in the rain: Mizo Zomi/Paite-Zomi Harvest dance tradition

The show goes on, even in the rain! And how apt that the theme involves broadcasting seeds and sowing a new crop in the fields...
Young Mizo girls show the traditional way of ploughing rice field, weaving clothes, sowing seeds, cleaning rice grains etc in the form of dance at Anthurium festival 2013.
Viewer Pau Lian informs us that "This is a Buhtuh laam (harvest dance).
The Anthurium Festival is a 3 day-long event organized every year in September by the State govt. of Mizoram with the aim to promote tourism in the state and also encourage Anthurium cultivation in Mizoram. It is a very popular festival and has slowly become one of the most prominent tourism festivals of the North East region.
The Anthurium Festival is celebrated every year at the tourist resort in Reiek Village at the foothills of the mystic Reiek Mountain. Set in an idyllic and mystic location about 20kms away from Aizwal, the capital city of Mizoram, the serene and tranquil beauty of Reiek Village adds an amazing charm to the beautiful Anthurium Festival. Beautiful Anthurium flowers grown in Mizoram are put on display and sold during the Anthurium Festival and tours to amazing Anthurium plantations are also conducted during the 3days. There is nothing wrong in identifying the name of the dance as Mizo dance.The dance was performed in Aizawl,the capital of Mizoram.The Paites in Mizoram do identify themselves as Mizo.Unlike some ,the Paites in Mizoram are an integral part of the Mizo society and they don't have any sense of 'clan chauvinism'.The call themselves Mizo Period. @Wild Films India

Mizo and Zomi is literally the same. In lushei dialect, they call it 'Mizo' but in Paite dialect 'Zomi' is grammatically correct. Let's not be confused.

I hope you know it well because you've been to North east India. Harp, flute, banjo, fiddle, we always find in Irish musical instruments are not used in this music, but it sound almost same with a few Irish country music. That's what I thought your dad used to listen.
