One of the things I love about ballet is it doesn't need a ton of sets and elaborate lighting to shine. The beauty and opulence of it is in the training and artistry of the dancers. I enjoyed watching this as much as I've enjoyed watching sugarplum clips with full sets.

I took several classes from Marty when he was teaching back in quarantine. I took a long break before deciding to take a total beginner adult workshop, and this week I attended my 25th ballet class! You say you are "not the best dancer", but I'm not sure I can really think of anyone who is. You dance with artistry and an understanding of lines that communicates a story to the audience and works with, not against, tchaikovsky's bittersweet strings. Not to mention your dynamic movement! I keep rewatching 4:45 to see the way your port de bras works so well with the cello motif. It is a gift to watch both of you dance and thank you for sharing your hard-earned skills.

You say you’re not the best dancer in the world… but I watch a lot of ballet... and I have to tell you that you are one of the most lovely dancers I have ever seen. I found myself sinking deeper and deeper into my heart as I watched you travel with so much grace and feeling through each step. I could feel the love inside your heart, I could feel the love between you and your partner, and it translated to me… even through KZbin. I’m 52 years old. An ex-dancer who never was trained very well in ballet, which makes me very sad, as I still yearn for it. I would do anything to be trained by you, even at my age. After having been in the background as a party person in one small studio production and after seeing one full length professional production of Nutcracker this year… seeing all that strength and grace, I decided I’m going to start taking ballet in the new year ☺️ I’m 31, have been Irish dancing for 18 years, never done ballet, but knowing how much strength and control goes into it, I want that body awareness going into the future. I have no illusions about being able to do certain things, but if it improves my quality of life while learning a new skill, that’s what I’m there for 😁 Also, your version was as good as any I’ve seen, Kate! I just recently started taking ballet class again after a 10 year gap and I don't know why I waited so long.
