V on Suga's talk show Suchwita just told us that in 2018 when they started to get really big internationally they had to work so hard all the time that they seriously contemplated disbanding bc it was just too much. In one occasion, V had asked for one day off bc he was so damn tired but it was refused bc of the tight schedule. He even thought of getting injured on purpose so he could get some time off. Seriously, they paid with blood, sweat and tears to get where they are now.

So part of the focus in this episode is the 'Big 3 Privilege.' Even getting in the running for a win on any of the music shows is a huge accomplishment for any group not part of the big 3 (JYP, SM & YG). BTS and Big Hit were not part of the big 3 so people were surprised that these guys were even in the running. Not only did BTS score high enough to be in the running but they also got first. Others could not accept that (not realizing that BTS was more well known internationally than they were in Korea) so their first thoughts were it had to be 'fixed' or 'they were cheating'. That guy was talking about how cheating to make your songs or albums chart was and is a real thing so it was not a stretch for some people to believe that BTS must have used this method to win. And realistically every music industry around the world tries to cheat their way to the top but in other countries it's called 'BUNDLING'. Here's the mug or T-shirt you ordered and here's your free digital copy of the album. (these bundles count towards charting numbers big time in North America). Big Hit did not have the money or the resources (or the bad ethics) to try to do this. BTS won because of their music and the hard work of ARMY from around the world. And it really sucks that they barely had time to enjoy their win before they were attacked. Unfortunately this wouldn't be the last time. (for instance War of Hormone). BTS from the beginning and even to this day always celebrate their wins and losses with ARMY. The videos are on their channel where you can find some of their lives along with Bangtan Bombs and more. The trip to Malaysia was a working trip (a photo shoot). They have multiple of these that you can watch called 'SUMMER PACKAGE' and 'WINTER PACKAGE'. 'BON VOYAGE' is where they takes trips and also have multiple seasons (also fun to watch).

This era is both a blessing and a curse imo. They started winning and breaking through to the Korean public, but they were still relatively unknown in their home country. The first Army who showed real support for the boys hail from Europe and the U.S. Koreans took a looooong while to open up to Bts, and the harsh topics they talked about were some of the reasons for it. Mental health and youth suffering from depression was a big taboo in Korea (it still is).

Actually they've had a burnout point during their career. In 2018 they were really struggeling and thinking about disbanding. As far as I know Jungkook and V wanted to leave. V was so burned out that he thought about hurting himself to get some free time. He's said so in the Suchwita interview with Suga. When they've won a daesang that year Jin, mentioned it during his speech. And at the Festa (BTS birthday party) V and Jungkook mentioned that Suga wrote them a longe message and ended it with "I love you". They've figured it out somehow and I'm soo glad they did. And I think they've found a way to balance work and downtime.

I've heard V mentioned as a likely candidate, but also heard strong arguments against it - but V was exhausted and missing his family, that's absolutely true. He was also depressed due to several deaths in his close family in a short timespan. As for the others, I don't know - J-Hope nearly left the group BEFORE their debut, but JK talked him into staying. He got a lot of hate from cyber bullies and considered going back to dancing full time at Yoongi wrote his Outro: Tear verse about the situation and was clearly feeling heartbroken/betrayed by whoever wanted the "breakup" so I don't think it was him. No matter who it was, and for what reasons, they DID make the decision to stay together - which I, for one, am very grateful for.

Actually, one important thing to know - the big 3 kpop companies likely DID NOT have quite the same struggles as Big Hit. To my understanding all of the Big 3 are owned by chaebol groups. So in Korea they have companies that are basically sanctioned by the government and have a lot of power and influence because of that which makes it easier for them to dominate the market compared to smaller startups. These are called chaebol groups (think Samsung). Imagine Google or Microsoft deciding they want to create a new subsidiary to make music (and assuming the big music labels in the US weren't already a thing) and you'll kind of understand how the Big 3 came about.

Exactly... The big 3 didn't debut from the scratch like BigHIt, they benefitted from financial subsidies given at the time by the government to promote the hallyu wave, even a ministery of culture dedicated to kpop was created in the 90', and it helped the big 3 a lot to establish connections and even own a big part of the medias.... Also some of their CEO are former idols themselves and they were huge at their time, so when they created their respectives labels they had already established a name and earned lot of money, which attracted more investors.... Big Hit and BTS didn't benefit of any of these financial helps and since they didn't have power even investors weren't giving them money until 2015.

They are incredible. They did reach a serious crossroad in 2018 where they had to really reflect on what they wanted their future to be. Once again, they dug in and surrounded themselves with each other and pushed through. Now they do have more freedom and leisure time and it is ironic that Covid put them in a place where they had more down time, but they weren’t allowed to tour. You're right, BigHit was a super small, not very well funded company during this era (and Hybe was far from existence then). BigHit wasn't even privy to the type of financial investment that the aforementioned, well-established "Big 3" were, so promoting BTS was a bare bones endeavor. To top it off, it was like a catch 22 for BTS because they were not from the Big 3, their opportunities/support was a rarity - getting a decent gig on a tv show type of exposure was like a miracle break for them. The powers that be within the kpop industry and its politicized hierarchy structure was actively working against BTS for sure. But damn, BTS's talents would not be refused!;)

Big 3 refers to SM, YG and JYP. These companies were already very big and had media on their side. Back when BTS debuted they came from a smaller label, so they couldnot promote themselves as much as some of the groups under Big 3 labels. So they weren't all that popular domestically. However internationally this Big 3 companies didnot have any influence, so BTS gained a much bigger fandom overseas first. Note that currently BTS is very big domestically as well. But it took years for Korean general public to notice them. I think this is why some journalist back then ( around 2014-2015 ) accused them of chart manipulation. Because BTS was selling better than some groups that was more popular than them in South Korea, journalists thought there might be some kind of manipulation going on. Later BTS label bighit won a court case and was proven innocent. Also as BTS became big in 2021 Bighit rebranded as Hybe Corporations. They even bought several other sublabels under them. Today Hybe is wealthier than the Big 3 companies by a large margin. But the difference between Hybe and Big 3 is like new money vs old money. Hybe is wealthier, but Big 3 still have more connections in the entertainment sector and media.

The story of BTS is really atypical of K-pop in general. BTS began to gain strength internationally before in Korea, in fact when the Korean industry realized what was happening with BTS it was already too late and they had already begun their rise. The irony of all this is that it was precisely the mistreatment and attacks by the industry, the media and the Kpop fandoms that gave the strength to ARMY to undertake their own fight to support the boys, the fandom understood that the The only way to protect them was to make them so big that they were untouchable. ARMY began with translations, raising funds to pay for advertising screens, articles in magazines, paying for KZbin Adds but in this case, since it could not be with official material from the boys, it was done by directing them to BTS fancams, they began to organize in block international fanbases for voting on programs and competitions, raise funds to sponsor the purchase of music for fans who did not have the resources, support the reactions of KZbin channels ETC ETC ETC Everything exploded with the Billboard 2017 when BTS won their first award in the USA because this gave them a huge boost that attracted many new fans, which gave even more strength to ARMY to continue giving everything for the boys.

Only recently have they seemed ready to talk about that year with army, expressing how difficult that year was for them and why. We've known it was a hard time for them because they expressed in their speech at a 2018 award show after winning a daesang (grand prize) that the beginning of the year was so hard that they felt like they wanted to quit being a group and nearly all of the members were crying on stage. We could tell it was harder than they fully expressed to us. The I Need You MV is more about the "Story line" that runs along BTS MVs that not necessarily relates to the song lyrics. Although I think the MV is also about the song which is only shown as metaphor. Like the stabbing scene. He didn't really stab the man, he might only feels like doing so when you relate to lyrics or the pain might feel that way. And the fighting scene of JK, the pills, the water, the fire, the faint (drone scene). They all were felt or "thought of doing" when you're heartbroken. But when you're with friends, you feel better. Like the scene when the boys are together, they seem happy. Just an opinion. I might have gotten this idea from others (ARMYs or reactors) too. Can't remember.

They get accused of sajaegi because at that time, BTS is still nugu (unknown) group in korea, eventho they are already popular in international (they already entered billboard chart in 2015 both in US dometic album sales and with global sales)That why BTS album sales is get sell more in international than in korea (at that time) and music show is counting all album sales, that bought in domestic also bought in international. The voting points also opened for international vote (not just domestic vote). That why BTS get higher points in album sales n voting criteria, exceeds the other nominations point for that categories who are only popular in korea. On that year, korean people esp kpop fandom is more focused on korean popularity n ignore international popularity coz kpop is not really popular like now in international. Most of popular idol group at that time is more popular in domestic than international. BTS is the anomaly, their fandom are more bigger in international than in domestic in the beginning. Army in korea is still considered small in 2015, but already have strong n bigger fandom in international. They started gained an attention n get more domestic fandom because I need you, and become more established n Army starting become big fandom in korea in 2016 after "blood sweat n tears" is released, and get recognize by korea general public in 2017 after "spring day" is release. Spring day is still and the only song in korean history has long charting in korea biggest streaming until now and still strong in top 30-50 ranking for 6 years. That shows how korean public really love that song n still get lot of people streaming it until now, not just by fans An artist who get accused for sajaegi n plagiarism, it can damage their career, especially for idol who really get weight by public for their image (if u have bad image, then u will get kicked out from the industry aka get cancel). To make clear their name, Bang PD took this case to the court n give of the receipt of album order both from company data and official music store n distribution data. Even International Armys also sending their receipt to bighit so they can apply to the court to proof that internasional fans really buying BTS album. In the end, the court clear up BTS name and announced it BTS sales is not sajaegi, but there is indeed lot of buying from overseas. Even BTS name had get clear by the court, but kpop fandom from popular group at that time denied that n keeps attacking BTS n Army with make trending their name in media social with labeled as "sajaegi boys" for many years. They still cant accepted n dont believed BTS is popular in international. Until BTS get nominated n win for social award in billboard n from other foreign music award in 2017, that time they get slapped by reality that BTS indeed is more popular in international than their fave lol... (even some of them until now are still denied it n accused bighit buy billboard award n other foreign music award for BTS. They still cant accepted the reality 😂😂😂)

Some ppl have said it already but Hybe didn’t exist in 2015. BigHit entertainment was just a small label. Ridiculously small when compared to the big 3. The big 3 privilege is abt how no matter how untalented and lazy a group from the big 3 is they’ll have fans, a decent debut, will be promoted in the media, will have articles written abt them… doesn’t mean that if they want to be at the TOP of K-pop they don’t need to work hard, they definitely do, but a group like BTS had to work 10x harder and relied on their fans much more than they relied on their company. That’s the difference between the groups during this time. You may think that right now things are different bc HYBE is big and very rich, but in Korea the big 3 still have the media power. Their artists still get more coverage, BTS is still lied abt and sabotaged. Boracity has a great video abt the music industry “why the music industry is terrified of BTS” it’s mostly abt the American industry but she touches a little bit on the Korean side of it and how they treat BTS. BTW BigHit eventually went to court bc of the “chart manipulation” accusations and were cleared of all of it, they didn’t cheat their way to the top, they worked harder and had army to support them. That’s why that bond is so strong, why BTS have always shown so much appreciation and love for army. One of my favorite songs made for army is “bulletproof: the eternal”, you should check it out.

And another thing. BTS’s label is “BigHit music”. Hybe is a corporation, not a label. So it doesn’t really make sense to talk abt hybe, the same way we talk abt YG, SM and JYP. Ppl get so confused abt that and think a group like new jeans is part of BTS’s label, they’re not. Their label is Ador not BigHit. Ador is part of hybe corporations just like BigHit, but they are 2 separate labels, with different managers, producers, etc. Boracity also has a good video “is the Hybe family a thing?” that has a section that explains this a little bit, the video itself is abt something else but maybe it would be a good watch.

No one is taking any credibility away from those big big Company. But when BTS debuted there company was really small. Their company didn't have the finances like the big 3. They were look down at, mistreated and cut from broadcast because they didn't have any money. They started out with nothing. The other groups from Big 3, didn't have to worry about money, they were given all that after they debuted because they have financial support.

1. Obviously HYBE is one of the big companies in S.Korea but the BIG3 refers to SM,YG and JYP. These companies has strong connections with broadcasting networks and press within S.Korea which is developed over 20 years. HYBE came to existence only in 2019. HYBE only has more money not the power, influence and connection like these companies. You may hear the term BIG4 from some Kpop fans but that term doesn't make any sense. There's only BIG3 in S.K. 2. BTS had their share of burn outs. I guess around 2018,they even contemplated about disbanding because everyone was at their limits. But they talked among themselves and decided to continue. The fans didn't knew about this at that time. Recently in the talk show Suchwita,V shared the experience he had at that time. 3. For that chart manipulation accusation, BTS went to the court and proved all the sales were legitimate.

Till today they have the most remarkable, out of the movie, underdog story. They don't even have enough money to pay for spots on TV, let alone to manipulate charts. These sajaegi accusations, among others, are just antis wanting to bring them down so badly, 2013-2017 was rough.

It has become increasingly more apparent to me that the other idol groups are not allowed to mention BTS’ name even if the members are friends. I’ve seen them speak highly of BTS and its members in the abstract without naming the group’s name. That’s why I think it’s the labels promoting the toxic rivalry, not the bands themselves.

I think IQ tests tend to focus on measuring problem solving ability rather than specific knowledge in any particular field. That said, they are definitely flawed since there's different types of intelligence as well, and it's not limited to logical/mathematical reasoning. Emotional intelligence is a big one that is not measured by a lot of IQ tests.

@@TripTipsPodcast I would say the chance is not very high 😅 as there are usually only 1% of people highly gifted (IQ over 130) and genius are only 0,1% . If you ever would try taking a test to get a result that will be recognised as valid by high-IQ organisations that would be something like the Wechsler Intelligence Scale. Usually it’s done by special psychologist ! So the tests you get every where on the internet are fun but don’t have any serious meaning.

Bighit was never in the Hybe 3 and still isn’t, the big 3 refers to the companies that first started kpop, bighit was a small company back then, they weren’t bringing in a lot of profit and were on the verge of bankruptcy, they couldn’t afford to maintain bts either, Yoongi said that they were once told to find some other place to live because bighit didn’t have any more money, bts made bighit one of the biggest/successful companies in South Korea. The ceo has credited bts many times because they built Hybe, the money that was used to create Hybe and acquire other labels is BTS’S MONEY. Bts’s money was used for hybe trainees, without bts, hybe would have never existed and all the groups under Hybe right now would have never existed. Also the majority of Hybe idols have said that they auditioned because bts influenced them, a lot of Hybe idols are fans of bts and acknowledge that bts came from nothing and had a rough beginning. Bts is hybe’s most successful artist and the ones that are still bringing in the most profit, even now that bts is releasing solo albums/singles, hybe’s stocks are increasing and the shareholders are happy with Hybe when bts members announce that they will drop an album. Jimin and jungkooks solo Music had a huge impact on Hybe and it’s worth after they got number 1 on the billboard hot 100. As a 2014 army, I am beyond proud of bts and I’m glad I got to witness their growth.

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Appreciate u continuing your reactions on the Rise of Bangtan. Adore this series. Have rewatched maybe 100 times now. HYBE is the big 4 now. HYBE is actually the wealthiest among the 4. BTS were doing a comeback at music bank and other shows. Those are competition shows. This was explained early in the series. Back then they had to perform early in the morning for a few weeks. Now u can just perform a week. The rules have changed. It's a little easier these days during comebacks. The guys do get burned out. They got burned out in 2018 and in 2022. If u watch Festa Dinner 2022 u will see. RM and Suga were so burned out. it was painful for them to write songs. They could not write anymore. It's a really emotional video for us armies, sigh. Last year they had less work because they were on a break and getting ready to enlist. They were able to rest and relax and work on solo music. The break was really needed. They will come back in late 2025 much recharged and with new strength. BTS celebrate a win with army going live. They have cake and drink. They chat with us. They speak mostly in Korean with a few Eng words here and there. We go to twt for translations or wait a day for Weverse to put subs on. Love the song. They deserved to win all the awards for that song. And Big Hit was a really small agency back than. The choreo is cool too. Good chap. Seeing those reactions was so cool. It was not a vacation it was a photoshoot. It was work! Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟 @michealogboru9578 said on 11/18/23 Yes, he was talking about BTS they were not so famous, and then they came from the smallest label in korea and the Big3 label fans hated on them bc they were small and didn't have money but ppl loved them internationally. @naffy113 said on 11/18/23 It wasn't a vacation, but was pretty much like one but with photoshoots included. It was for their Summer Package (2015), which is like content they made for ARMY that included a DVD of footage from their trip & games they played (kind of like both bon voyage and run bts) and a photo book is included too with photoshoots that they took there. It may not be a proper vacation, but it was definitely a welcomed break/change in their busy music show promotional schedule in Korea. @solovely7419 said on 11/18/23 The most beautiful moment in life album will be it 10th years anniversary on 2025..BTS will continue this album project when they back on 2025.

BTS literally singlehandedly turned a struggling-almost -bankcrupt company (big hit) into the HYBE, but don’t get it twisted, altho HYBE is big now but they still DON’T have the influence into controlling the media or music shows in south korea, the big3 still owns that. Yess HYBE is bigger than all the big3 combined moneywise n global-impact wise, but mediaplay n music shows controls still belongs to the big3 who btw now a medium3, especially YG Ent. n SM Ent., in 2021 the Korea Exchange made an announcement based on the cash flow n profit, that YG and SM are no longer a blue-chip companies n they now a Mid-Sized companies. In a big year of 2021 where people thought that “kpop” is exploding espc blackpink (from YG) n some groups from SM) turned out all the demand are fake, it’s all mediaplay but on paper they loss profit bcos mediaplay n buying awards ain’t cheap, they want to portray themselves as big as BTS but bts got all that organically with their talent, not depending on company mediaplay n company money to buy awards, streams, and espc YTB VIEWS. Yep YG n SM earned some big money (big income) but people have to know how much money they have to put out to GAIN that big income cos the korea exchange has declared that theyre BROKE, they only have popularity, money? Not so much cos they buyin everything, by everything i really mean EVERYTHING. Do u know that YG Ent. has been on the red every year in their annual profit report? SM was on n off, sometime they made profit sometimes not so much, but YG really surprised me cos they have blackpink, the big kpop group second to BTS (that’s wht people said), but couldn’t bring profit to the company table…bcos pegs are bigger than poles…that mediaplay n bought ytb views, bought spotify streams, bought awards finally came to bite them in the a$$, the proof is on the paper which is the Korea Exchange report.

Everything has to be paid with their content yet they gave not even a bare minimun for their fans, lazy performance at concert, lipsync with loud playback, songs that sound the same, always bout how pretty n savage they r, how skinny they r, how many branded things they have like bruh…at first it was fun but after 2-3 songs i had enough lol. Sorry for the long “rant” cos i really believed they have potential but theyre just to lazy to even pick a pen n write a good song that’s not abt being skinny, pretty n branded stuffs, n be honest bout really writing a song or not cos one of the girls said she has a part where she wrote a line in their song but couldn’t tell which line cos she forgot….like whaattt??? How u forgot which lines u wrote??? Just be honest n admit that u have no credits to the song…i feel sorry for the real writers cos in some songs one or two of the girls r in the credits as one of the writers but they be confused when people ask which part did they write, they just insert their name to avoid more mockery for not writing when in fact they have no credits whatsoever. Back to renewal contract, i think MAYBE they will still be together cos they love the fame they got from being blackpink even tho they can’t stand each other…they actually want to go solo for good but don’t want to disband cos they know the fame as solo won’t as big as a group (bp).

In fact RM has stated he had to use 'girl' so it worked lyrically however the song and all the BU really follows the storyline of 7 friends who are soulmates and their complex and interwoven lives..... it's a whole other thing to get your head around, there is a definite order to be able to even start to understand the MV's and storyline. Plus you would probably still need one of the fan made explanation videos as it is so complex along with Webtoons as well! It's 🤯

@@njjm5003 What explanation video would you suggest?
@itsbonniefay2417 Жыл бұрын
@DANDJREACT I'd personally recommend the video by Suga Spice called BTS music videos have a fictional storyline guide (for beginners). Although many recommend the "storyline explained" videos by XCeleste, it's really difficult to grasp everything in those videos because you've barely been introduced and XCeleste puts everything together outside of the music videos, like the notes & webtoons, which can get confusing for a introduction into the BTS Universe. The video I'm recommending is simpler so it's a good way to get introduced before you dive head first into it all. But just know it's from 5 years ago and doesn't contain every single thing, ex: the webtoon series, which is integral to the storyline that adds a lot of context and info that we didn't know about from the mv's, is not included in this video. It's just a simpler intro.

So the big 3 they not allow the TV stations to show groups from the small companies. That's why this groups from small companies sometimes succed internationally before than in Korea, he clearly meant BTS. Bellieve it or not BTS hit harder internationally, my korean friends didn't believe me that they were so big, since tv didn't show them international success either.

They were talking about the 3 big company, not big hit. Big hit was very small. Bts were from the category not famous

BigHit was a small company it's said that in 2017 when BTS went to their first appearances in US all the company flew with them to support them just imagining having around 30 employees it was that small, in 2019 is when BigHit started to get more employees and just in 2021 change to HYBE y bum! a corporation is born and started to adquiere a bunch of companies, so HYBE is big in money but not on influence cuz is still so new in comparison to the others 3 And I don't think that they want to be in debt with journos, sometimes the journos complain that BH not answers the calls or dont have to much access to the boys 😅

So the I need u video is apart of the bangtan universe so the videos lyrics do not real,y go with the music video. Also the lyrics changed. Originally it was I need u FRIEND but RM didn't like how that flowed so they changed it to girl instead

Hybe did not exist until 2021, Big hit was a very small company BTS made Hybe. BTS was in the middle a not so famous group.
