If I am correct, this song was dedicated to haters judging him for becoming an idol. Suga was an underground rapper before auditioning for Big Hit and debuting. So basically, he is saying they should be lucky he is an idol and is too busy to care and that they are just jealous.

Just saw him perform this song LIVE in LA and he is perfection LIVE whether on this song or something more mellow. For reference he and another member of BTS caught a lot of flak for leaving underground hip-hop to pursue a career in BTS - a lot of people told them they weren't real rappers anymore, and weren't real artists and had "sold out." One of the most infamous times a person said he is "SUGAR" and implied because he wears stage make up which makes him like a girl. This is one of his clap backs - where he says he is far from the SUGAR and there isn't anythings sweet about him. He and the other members of BTS worked their butts off to get to where they were at the time yet had a lot of negativity thrown their way. They speak out about being true to yourself and loving yourself and most of their music is very deep and meaningful, but there are some that are just for fun and then some like this where they basically clap back at the haters and tell them where they can go if they don't like them. LOL. Haegeum was part of a trilogy, with the first being Daechwita (where this AgustD era version of his persona faces off with the version of himself from today), Haegeum in the middle, and Amygdala where the genesis of the scar from the other two mv's is revealed, in how sometimes we have pain inside that isn't visible like a scar and sometimes the scars we bear are because of decisions we've made in our own lives or because of the experiences we've gone through in life and how that can shape us and break us. Anyway, there is another MV that is cinematographically the part 2 of this one just from a video perspective, it is called "Give it to me" Hope you check out more. Sorry for the dissertation 😅

I think he is or at that time was kind of restricted/tied up in the kpop scene, since there is certain topics that he cant talk about and words that he cant say. But Agust d is kind of his escape from those restrictions, his outlet to say what he wants and express this side of himself. He got a lot of hate from the rap scene and is also addressing them in this song. After Haegeum he said that now that he doesnt have this hate anymore inside him, he isnt sure if Agust d is needed any more 💜

The sample he used is James Brown's Man's man's man's world! He uses sampling a lot to produce (most of his works as Agust D are self-produced) and was primarily hired to be a producer originally and rapper ! And I do believe in the chorus the sexual innuendo is implied with the extended metaphor around his "tongue technology" (std, from the D -his hometown is called Daegu-, people getting turned on by his tongue)

I was just clarifying about the underlying message, the lyrics says he's "sending people to Hong Kong" with his tongue which is also a Korean idiom to say to "make someone reach orgasm"! He uses this same imagery also in Cypher pt.3 where he has a bar saying: "As you know, my voice gets them horny, My flexible tongue movement that sends people to Hong Kong (makes people reach orgasm) with my rap, men and women alike" Yoongi is rather explicit especially as Agust D it was his free space to unleash everything!

Because their lyrics mean a lot and the lyrics are based on their own experiences, hardship, and their journey as under dog artists. They have been accused unfairly and attacked badly so many times because they were from the small company. So as AgustD(aka.Suga of BTS) wrote songs which are very raw and aggressive. As a 48 year old korean army who saw these attacks and unfairness toward them in Korea I 'm very proud of BTS.

So just like in your 1st BTS video, they were very much criticized for being idols and wearing make-up. They were told they looked like girls and couldn't consider themselves rappers. This was towards Suga (aka Agust D) and Rm. People were especially hard on them because they came from underground rapping. This is a middle finger to all those haters. He is amazing, in fact they all are if you give them a fair chance free of judgement. Also, I take the STD part as not only the end of his name but translation of the verse after that is he sends everyone to Hong Kong (slag for climax) with his tongue technology. SO, this song is full of awesome wordplay and sexual double entendres and STD is no exception to that. Sexual Doubles: * D Boy - because he is from Deagu and his first underground rap crew was called DT Crew (Deagu Town Crew) so his alternate ego for his solo work as been DT Suga, backwards (Agust D.) * Tongue Technology (a term he uses a lot to refer to his rap) * "Turn You On" Yoongi does not actually say turn you on, as the translations conveys. What he says is "Take you to Hong Kong" which is a S. Korean euphemism for giving you an orgasm. He has used the phrase in other songs as well, and also said things like whether you are a guy or a girl, my music will take you to Hong Kong or you will climax from my tongue technology, or my voice bewitches your girlfriend (to haters) etc. * STD - which is both part of spelling his name and saying that he is contagious and you cannot get rid of him. Always assume every word of BTS music is carefully chosen and fully understood. They are genius writers and producers.

Other rappers were really critical of the fact he also does pop, and dances, as if he couldn’t be a real “rapper”, of course now he is successful and none of that matters. Watching him perform this song live in concert for the 1st time - years after its release - is on another level (w/ a rock edge, mind you)! Would LOVE to see your reactions to Agust D LIVE in concert! I attended his LA Day3 show and it was outstanding! His very proficient live band was rockin that metal grind HARD in the background!🤘But I gotta say, the well satiated audience still managed to peak above the highest decibels in the joint!😅Seriously, AgustD/SUGA knows how to put on a show (been at it for 10-ish years). He took his rap gig and went metal for his current tour... and the production was like a fully immersive art experience - top tier! I've been to plenty of rock concerts (in addition to other genres) and this one had to be among THE most amazing productions (BTS member JHope @ Lollapalooza Chicago 2022 also performed head-banging rocker-edged sets, but more on a festival environment). BTS in general hold phenomenally fun/entertaining concerts. They get pegged a lot with the assumption of a stereotypical "boyband", but once you get a better sense of what they do, it's easier to realize there's way more to these artists - and they've earned every inch of their successes/accolades, every step of the way, from the ground up. They're legit talented. All BTS members tend to draw a very diverse following, from all walks of life - from varying states, countries, languages, ages, genders, diverse in music interests... an all around good crowd. And all come together for this group of super talented bros. Glad to see you guys step outside your box. You're def not alone:)

He has actually performed this song live in his current world tour. That fast rap in the second verse? Amazing live. This was Agust D/Suga's first solo single from his first mixtape in 2016. In it he boasts that BTS at the time sold half a million albums in a year. Fast forward to "D-Day" that he released last April, it sold over a million albums in one day! Before BTS, Suga was an underground rapper. When he joined BTS, he received backlash from the community, saying he's a girl and a sellout for joining a boy band. He brought forward AGUST D to hit back at all the haters who looked down on him and RM when they left underground rap to become idols, but because they became idols they have managed to also be the rapper's they started out as [ underground ] and get across the messages they always wanted to, They have also managed to do this being idols BTS just in a different way. Even tho BTS started at a really small company who were on the verge of being backrupt they are the biggest group in the world and have colab with alot of western artists, Coldplay, Snoop Dogg, Charlie Puth, Halsey and alot more. Just remember that not everything done by non-US artists is copying or taking something in reference from western artists or culture and BTS doesn’t need to do anything like that to appeal to a worldwide fandom. When they do take inspiration from the west, it’s often called out by them to pay respect and they take the music in a completely different and reinvented direction that is wholly their own. I don’t fault you for thinking this way as that is very typical ethnocentric thinking here in the US but just be mindful that even things you think are not offensive may be racist or discriminatory or stereotyping to those of us who are not white or from the west.

Stop obsessing and worshiping these average everyday people and focus more of your time and energy on God. Again these are just people like the rest of us and deserve to be happy with the person they fall in love with. Could you imagine thousands of random people around the world you have never met getting upset and complaining about the person you fell in love with? That would be completely unacceptable and ridiculous don’t you think? So why are these band members any different?

I think you would like the Cyphers parts 1-4. Part 1 is the simplest and not my favourite but parts 2 and 3 are chef's kiss. The other 2 rappers in BTS are RM and J Hope. All are as good, all have different styles.

You should be less literal with what you see... lol The fact that he's on a moving trailer I take it as he was tied up, he himself has to try to escape with no help, since the world ain't stopping just for him. When he's done untying himself, everything falls down around him and things don't remain static, he gotta find his balance (now with no restraints). He looks out of the window to check where he's at, his surroundings. Finally, he opens the door (metaphorically!) and sees the world not through the window, but at the same level. After that, he just goes up the stairs and sits down... on top of the world/industry :) (I might be mistaken, but that's my interpretation of things). PS. If you check Give it to me, it follows from this one and you see what happens with the trailer :)

Les recomiendo de Suga / AgustD / Min Yoongi: "Deachweta" (el mv es increíble), "The Last" (sin mv, es un rap muy personal), "Amygdala" (es la nueva canción y también es muy personal, porque plasma lo que le ha ocurrido). Nota: es una trilogía y es: Deachweta, Heagum ( no estoy segura como se escribe) y Amygdala. En ese orden. Se que Deachweta tiene muchas referencias culturales y muchos reaccionan después de ver el mv y dar su opinión, a la explicación dada en inglés por los coreanos del canal Dkdktv, si ustedes quieren pueden ver está explicación en su tiempo personal, aunque se que el canal Dkdktv permite las reacciones siempre que les den crédito, solo es un sugerencia. Otros canciones: *"Shadow" (este es un rap de AgustD/Suga, pero viene en una trilogía de BTS de sus álbumes relacionados a las teorías sicológicas de Carl jung; las otras dos canciones son: *de RM / Kim Namjoon / antes Rap Monster: "Persona" *y de Jhope / Jung Hoseok "Ego". Los mv están en el canal BANGTANTV. Además existen excelentes otros canales que dan explicaciones a los mv y muchos Armys que traducen las letras, una de las páginas muy nombradas para la traducción de las letras es Doolcet. saludos y éxito en sus reacciones.

Reaccionen a J hope de BTS, Arson y More... son dos joyitas. Ademas fue el encabezado principal de Lollapalooza. Los chicos son mucho más que simple Kpop, y sus letras son extremadamente profundas (incluida la de blood sweat and tears) hay canales muy buenos para que encuentren traducciones correctas o explicaciones para que no se queden con lo primero que captan. Agradecería sigan siendo respetuosos. El nombre es Agust D(Suga al revés y TD de su ciudad natal) es el segundo miembro de BTS, productor y compositor de muchas de las canciones del grupo y de todas las de él en solitario.

If you show the intro of the video (and use the videos from Hybe/Bighit) you most of the time shouldn’t have a problem with blocking. Just so you guys know. I do understand though that with BTS they have been tricky with them because YT, lets just say YT doesn’t like them because they loose money to them (BTS don’t pay for ads and have a high view count). Agust D moniker might be gone (or not) according to him. He's finished the trilogy he had thought out, so supposedly next solo album would come out as either SUGA, his real name or a different one. But since he said he's unpredictable, we could meet Agust D in the future as well.
