Just two minor things. His toilet works, it's the flush that doesn't. Bucket flushing is still pretty much the preferred method in the Philippines, as this saves a ton of water compared to tank flushing. Second was that his AC also most likely works, it's on older dial based window type. He needed to turn fan knob for the AC to start. The switch in front for powersaving mode or performance mode, which basically just enable/disables the automatic fan. If you are planning to stay for a long time, you can get an apartment for $100 to $130 a month in these areas. Just don't expect it to be along the beach.

Just be careful, though. We DO have some bad elements in the Philippines, starting at the airport, where taxi and transport companies try to rip you off with high fares. Some hotels also charge you "low rates" but you end up paying a lot of additional fees. Vendors charge you high prices for their goods, so be prepared to haggle. Counteroffer with an amount that's half what they said. Remember, prices WILL VARY from area to area. For example, in BGC and some places in Makati, a local beer can cost you at least three dollars while a cocktail would set you back ten bucks. Still cheaper than US prices but more expensive than in most places in the Philippines.

As a Filipino, that I can agree with! Your $100 can get you to places but varies on which region/province you will visit the Philippines. But in Metro Manila, atleast $150-$200 minimum. For transportation, same with Singapore we use Grab app. We used to have Uber but they pulled out. We have motorcycle taxi app Angkas, Joyride (Joyride now caters car as well)

Just remember that cheap 'branded' items here are usually knock-offs, so the quality is not very good. Sellers also tend to jack up prices for tourists so you can haggle if you want. $100 will not get you much in Manila, but it will be enough for 2-3 days in the provinces, esp if you're not picky with food and accommodations. As for the 5-hr drive to El Nido, you can actually get a direct flight from Manila but it costs about $250 one way.

Hi D&J.. Just an FYI. El Nido is a touristy place. Some prices there are higher than other parts of Philippines. Plus, if you are a foreigner, sometimes they charge you higher too (eg.fliptop is $2 or lower in Manila local stores, eye glasses is $1 to $2). Bargaining is common here so you can even get the prices much lower than the initial price if you bargain or ask for the last price. Also, since El Nido is a main tourist island here, some other white sand islands can offer you lower than $20 for island hopping tour. Feel free to explore here. :)

'Coz living in a foreign country could sometimes be lonely no matter how lovely and vibrant the place is and how friendly the people are. There are really those moments in life and you want someone who can relate to you as an outsider, as a non-Filipino. 2. You should take some time to learn and build friendship with Filipinos. Sometimes Filipinos are a bit shy and you need to crack them surface to get inside🤣 and once you have a community of Filipino and foreign friends I think your experience will be great. I am living outside PH and I use this tip to survive in a foreign country. I both have a native, non-native and Filipino friends and these friendships totally made a difference in my life. To be fair, most of our products sold by small time businesses are bootleg, specially the "designer brand" ones. But, they are just as functional. You can argue that durability is the downside, but you'll exaust yourself to sleeep before those bootleg products give up. But one thing I'd be proud to in regards to our products are the booze. They are stupidly cheap compared to other countries. If you enjoy the occasional drinking, you'll be spending way cheap, and still have more to share with the locals.

In Coron you can try the Houseboat (kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2WnmYyCarqIptk) From Manila, you may fly to Puerto Princesa, and from there, it's a 6-hour van or bus ride to El Nido. @@TripTipsPodcastjust a simple info in our culture - we always say these tagalog words when we want someone to give a pleasant and respectful response to anyone we talked to, like saying " ATE" for a particular older or same age lady then " NENE" for a younger or little girl. Then for men we say " KUYA" for the older guy/ man and " TOTOY" for a younger or little boy. THOSE TAGALOG WORDS WE oftenly USE FOR our INITIAL or first word of the first statement in a conversation.. Then we also say " PO" for the the last word in a single or couple statemnet to every conversation. Then say "OPO" when you are agreeing to someting. Those words that I've mentioned are our way of giving respectful response to any conversation specially to older individual. You can use those words to get a much greater respect and treatment.

7 minutes into the video and please take note that Imitation products is very common here, like that "supreme" sandals is most likely locally made imitation so it should be cheap, you can actually feel the difference of most imitations if compared to an original one.

Guys the reason why its a bit cheap for the items he bought is because the items aren't really original mostly imitations like sunglasses even in philippines original rayban will cause you $100bucks+ sandals example nike origianl cause cause $30bucks but being realistic you can buy thus imitations for your travel needs miat of it atill looks like original just choose the item and doesnt make a difference when wearing them.

The best thing about the liquor and beer in the Philippines is it’s cheap, strong and tastes good. A 375ml bottle of Tanduay rum is $1 at 40%. Red horse beer is 8% and $1.5 for 500ml. But most popular Filipino beer is San Miguel Pale Pilsen at 5%. Also make sure to eat sizzling Sisig as your appetizer while drinking. Truly Filipino experience. Pork in the Philippines is amazing.

What he bought were knock-offs so it was cheap, just a disclaimer.😊 And in Manila, it can be sold for half the price than in Palawan (goods are generally pricier in destination places like Palawan, Boracay) because they do cater to tourists.
